Do you regard fishing as leisure or a sport.
It is competative, which really is what sport is about is'nt it.
Or does sport mean competative or energetic playing.

Maybe fishing is both.
Snooker and darts are a sport, so is hunting, well so they say.
Trying to distinguish sport from leisure here and why easy can mean its not a sport unless you sweat.

Historically, 'sport' is anything you can lay money on ;)

I tend to put fishing (and darts and snooker) under "pastime" as opposed to sport.

Acording to MSN Encarta a sport can be either a competitive physical activity or an active pastime participated in for pleasure or exercise.

So depends if you would class fishing as active, personally i dont call fishing, darts or snooker a sport. Its a hobby / pastime of which some are played at a pro level, but thats just my opinion.
