I've been looking for somewhere to live for what seems like forever now!! Lost two houses already in netheredge, both on the same road!! due to people bidding way way way over the asking price!!!! so I'm now looking in new areas. I've got a budget of no more than £120,000 so due to Sheffields stupid thing of asking prices being no where near what they want for the house they'l prob be advertised around £100 or £110!

Anyways after that rant I'm thinking of maybe Hillsborough or Walkey?? I dont know anything about these areas are they nice?? I live near Hunters Bar at the min and think this is nice but cant get anything for your money here.

Any opinions would be appreciated!!

Both areas are very nice, quiet enough but not too so, plenty of places to go.

Not too sure about house prices, but I reckon you will get more for your money up that way.

Good Luck! :)

I've lived in Hillsborough for the last 15 years, and Walkley before that. Both areas have lots of housing that would probably fit in your budget (my 3 bed terraced is valued at 95-99k, and there are thousands of a similar size and shape round here), and I really like living here.

There isn't really much in the way of night life in either place in the way that there is on Eccy Road, but Eccy road is accessible by any bus that starts with an 8 from Hillsborough, and by a swift change of buses in town from Walkley. Town nightlife is equally easily reached- and for that Hillsborough has the benefit of the tram.

Why don't you come and have a look round? We don't bite or shoot new people to the area!
