I find my mobile quite useful. Though, i rent a flat, and if I owned a home, my opinion might be quite different...

I haven't voted because none of the options are true for me.

I do have a mobile, but I could easily live without one, and I wouldn't object to having a mast put up outside my house as I do use a mobile.

I don't really understand why the poll is there TBH. It's just a bunch of questions that don't really mean much. I thought we had a forum where you could write your thoughts fully like they were doing in this thread (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?postid=104077#post104077) ?

If you had just put 2 responses to the question... Yes or No, that would have made a bit more sense, but still not let folk answer fully.

I voted No. It's not that I couldn't live without it though, I just choose not too.

I voted don't care, I think the people who complain about masts are hypocritical in my experience.

They don't really bother me. Although I do have concerns that mobile phones are probably bad for the health.

With my name you may well guess that I don't have one and you'd be right.
My landline is a big enough pain in the *** what with holiday, double glazing and finacial services phoning me as soon as I sit down to eat.... I think they've got CCTV trained on my house so that they know I've arrived home! (Yes, I've registered with the Telephone Preference Service to try and stop these for what use it is)

I don't feel I need to phone the wife from the supermarket to ask what brand of baked beans we need or let someone in the pub know I'll be there in 2 minutes as I'm walking down the road etc .

I wonder how many anti-mast protestors have a mobile phone or have bought their kids one?. I think the reporters are failing in their duty to ask this pertinent question.

But people can post their thoughts fully after the have voted in this post! A debate may then arise out of it. I think this is a fair enough poll to be fair. It has been discussed elsewhere but this is a different angle covering the question, would you actually get rid of your mobile. People go on about the health risks of masts and they look ugly, but I bet they don't get rid of their mobiles! I'd like to see how people vote on this.

I don't own a mobile. There still seems a lot of uncertainty about the health risks.

I wouldn't want a phone mast near me either.

Thanks foxxx, its just that Tony has developed somewhat of a habit on picking on any slight thing I post. I think polls are sometimes more indicative of the general consensus than reading posts anyway, as some people may not dare to admit in a post they are "NIMBYs" but would happily vote they are in a poll where anonymity is guaranteed.

I don't care about masts - I never really notice them, anyway - and I don't really care about my mobile either.

I only have one because my son upgraded and gave me his old one recently. I need to learn how to use it, now.

I'll get down to it one day....perhaps.

I wouldn't be without my mobile, they're a real lifeline when you're out and about.

Aren't there similar concerns about living near electricity sub-stations and under pylons but how many of us would like to do without electricity?

I own a mobile and use it so rarely as I am concerned about the health implications but I wouldn't want to be out of contact when my kids are away from me incase of an emergency.

My apologies. I didn't realise we were talking about health issues here. I clean forgot. I thought people were complaining about them being eyesores or something.

Oooh.. takes one to know one!

I haven't voted because there is simply nothing that represents my view.

I'd happily admit to being a NIMBY. I wouldn't want a mobile phone mast anywhere near where I live, nor for that matter pillons.

Funnily enough, i received a planning application to construct a mobile mast today. think it's going to be right behind where i live. Am not going to complain about it.

I admit to being a NIMBY too, but certain people wouldn't dare but could still put their view across tacitly via a poll. Keep all the masts and things in the scummy, run down areas IMO, not ruin the areas that still look nice. ;)

it obviously doesn't work like that t20. The masts have only a short range, so if you want decent coverage where you live, live with the masts.
I am not a NIMBY, more a Site It Sensibly Please, which makes no good acronym.

Site It Sensibly Thanks? Then you'd be a SISTER! *cue annoying American High School accent* You "go girl"!
