Ok firstly I've been in Sheffield now for nearly four years and I can count the places where I can get a good pint in the city centre on one hand; Devonshire Cat, etc.......

Where is there that doesn't serve a brew that tastes like paint?

Secondly, WHY ON EARTH WAS O'NEILLS ON WEST STREET ALLOWED TO CLOSE?? S1 Bar is a poor replacement!! This question vexes me still!

There are loads of good pubs in town, you just have to look for them. Have you tried the Bath Hotel, The Red Deer, Dog and Partridge, Grapes, Washington, Three Tuns, Fagans etc

Devonshire Cat - one road down from divi st.
Red Deer
both worth the walk (about 5 mins from JL's)

My vote goes to the Red Deer too. lovely pub, great beers, tasty food and possibly the hardest pub quiz in the world on a Sunday. Incidentally, I think O'Neills closed because, apart from at weekends it was always dead in there.

Rutland Hotel every time for me - good beer, decent food, great garden.

O'Neills closed because fake Irish theme pubs with overpriced crap beer went out of fashion. I think S1 is owned by the same pubco, it was just a conversion job.

The Brown Bear is good too - Sam Smiths pub and damn cheap - you can still get a round of 3 drinks and get change from a fiver!

Good lager too if bitter isn't your tipple - and they do look like they're trying to rid the place of the "itinerant salesmen"

The Classic Rock Bar! Live music nightly and we've been nominated as pub of the month in the latest CAMRA guide.

Nearly fell off me bar stool when I read that!

No, Brown Street in the City Centre, on the bend.

And would be a worthy winner too. Just need to motivate any CAMRA members that have been to get their votes in.

Live entertainment, warm welcome, good beer and cheap prices - what more could you ask for!

`Brown Bear` gets my vote.

Just discovered `Dove and Rainbow` behind the `******s Daft`it is Great!

Always stayed before `cos with that name I thought it might be a `Blue Oyster` type.

Little out of town centre, but the New Barrack Tavern is great on Penistone road. Good ale, good food & cheap!

The Dog & Partridge on Trippet lane if you like great Guinness and Fagins around the back for great ales.
The music and atmosphere is real in both of them, never had a bad night yet.

Hi all, I'm new here. I'd recommend either The Yorkshire Grey or maybe The Globe next to Hallam Uni.

The Dog and Partridge and Fagans both get my vote.....Anne who runs the Dog and Tom at Fagans are 2 of the nicest people I've ever met!

I also get the geetar out in the Dog a couple of nights a week!!

Have to agree also with Pontious and Bulldog D

Great pint of Guiness in both these pubs.

Hey Pontious, I saw the Boss in Fagans a few Fridays back, he sang a couple of numbers, but not the one in your sig:thumbsup:

The Guiness in the Dog and Patridge is an experience.

Lovely stuff.
