Now we all know it's the most important meal of the day, etc, but hands up, who can honestly say that they eat it everyday?

If its so important, what exactly should we be eating?

Personally, I love to eat Asda's raisin, honey and almond museli...mmm gorgeous! Try it!

I have something everyday, usually in a rush Mon - Fri, so toast or cereals.
At the weekend its more relaxed and sometimes I do a Full English with the works, sit down read the paper and chill.

What you have put down sounds pretty healthy.

Muesli with soya milk, cornflakes, shredded wheat, fruit juice, full english, fresh fruit, any one of those to me is delicious for breakfast, washed down with a large mug of ovaltine. nothing nicer. mmmmmmmm. :D :D :D

Ovaltine... quite nice but I'm strange and I like the taste of it without adding water... you know, just eating the powder... hmmm!

People who eat breakfast generally tend to be thinner than those who dont. Everyone I know who had it are thin, and when i read in crappy womens magazines about dieters and it tells you what they ate before they lost 30 stone it always say breakfast: nothing. When i started to have it a bit ago i was at my lowest weight. I dont have it anymore  i tend to stay in bed til lunchtime or when i do get up i get up 20 mins before i have to set off wherever it is i had to get up for. I wonder if there is a correllation between weight and breakfast though.

Hi Caprice,
Ovaltine is a delicious malted drink, unsweetened, non fattening, and perfect as a nightcap also. I drink it all the time as it is an aid to slimming without ever feeling hunger pains. One can buy it at any supermarket, although I get mine from Makro in bulk, it costs me £19.95 for five bumper boxes and it lasts me for months. It is a lot cheaper than getting it in small boxes from supermarkets, please try it I am certain you will like it and it is all goodness, perfect for a young girl like yourself to keep you healthy.

I haven't been eating cereal since about 11 years of age.
Not a big cereal fan to be honest, I'd rather just have a nice cup of coffee to wake me up.

Well that is a pile for a start.

I have in general never had breakfast unless forced, it wasn't until I had children that I finally put on weight and prior to that I was constantly bugged about looking anorexic, despite eating like it was my last day on earth.

Hi Andy,
I love a full english breakfast, especially when we go on holiday and we just sit there whilst it is put in front of us, then, wait for the toast and marmalade and eat as much as we want!!! Then we walk out and don't have to wash any pots. PURE LUXURY.

I think I've struggled with breakfast since I first got sick. I never eat breakfast in the week unless I get up really late and I usually try and eat something fairly decent in the weekend.

I don'r eat breakfast as often as I should but luckily, where I work, nutrition is high on the agenda so I usually grab some fruit when I get there. We also, always get a fantastic lunch cooked for us, all organic and veggie.

I seem to go through 'phases' with what i want for brekkie, at the moment its warmed chocolate chip brioche (not particularly healthy), before then it was crumpets with marmalade on, before then crunchy nut cornflakes! and either a smoothie, cup of tea or water to drink. I'm not very often up to see breakfast though - bein a student! :D

Once, when the sickness was pretty bad and my weight loss seemed to speed up, I wandered downstairs at about 3am to make a fry up because I felt skinny, lol.

I have a cheap muesli from Aldi, to which I add currants, ground almonds, oatmeal and crunchy bran flakes. Must try adding some Ovaltine powder :D

If for some reason I haven't time for breakfast I'll gobble a banana on the hoof !

During the week I have two slices of toast, one with Marmite and one with marmalade. At the weekend when I am at work its a banjo sandwich. For those that are not familiar with the aforesaid sandwich, its bacon, egg and tomato on a large bread cake. Take a large bite from the sandwich squirting egg and tomato down the shirt front, hold the sandwich in the left hand away from the body to the left and brush the shirt front with the right hand. You have now experienced the banjo sandwich!!

I have breakfast every single day and woe betide anyone who gets in my way before I've had it

I start off with fresh fruit, and ensure the kids have same, whatever the season and follow up with cereal, toast, muesli, whatever is at hand. I like boiled eggs, scrambled, and I love fried egg sandwiches, but rarely eat them.

On celebration days we have pannetone, or croissants. Or both.

My doctor told me once that young people who don't eat breakfast, generally have more problems with weight when older.

Yup, thats what I was thinking...

Since 3 years ago, I've stopped eating brekky... It means I have to get out of my lovely warm bed a little earlier to get myself something to eat... :nono:
I do like something to eat about 10.30ish, perhaps fried eggs on toast... ooooohhhh that is soooo good :D hehe

Can anyone suggest a really healthy breakfast, like a healthy cereal for example?

What about some fruit with natural yoghurt (and maybe a bit of honey) and then a piece of granary toast with low fat spread...?

Personally I can't leave the house without breakfast. I usually have a piece of fruit while I'm waiting for the kettle to boil and then have a poached egg or grilled bacon (or sometimes both!) with a couple of slices of granary toast with a cup of tea. Yum.

...and I'm fairly slim, whoever mentioned the thing about weight. Maybe if you eat breakfast it keeps your metabolism ticking over whereas if you don't, your metabolism is more sluggish. ...I don't know if that's right but isn't it supposed to be more healthy to eat little and often rather than say, two big meals a day?

I know a guy who for the last 40 years every morning has had one egg and two slices of bacon for his breakfast with out fail. How boring can this be?

Some mornings I get up and feel like eating a full English, other mornings cereal, other days toast, sometimes coffee sometimes tea (or even beer for that matter). Somedays I eat nothing. To have the same ritual each a.m. seems to be sad in the extreme

A nice typical indian brekkie:

Porridge! (with a nice dollop of honey)

Nice and warming, keeps you going for longer than normal cereal and honey is good for the digestive system! The perfect breakfast.

I eat breakfast every morning, I either have a bowl of cereal or a slice of toast and I have to have a cup of coffee or I simple wouldn't function. Sometime after a big night out I have a full English but that is very rare.
