I have just received a sms message to my home phone that included names of 2 forummers. I have never ever given out my home phone number to anyone and am now obviously wanting to know how this has been obtained when I'm not even listed in the phone directory.

The mobile number it was sent from started with 07740. If anyone has sent me a message this morning please could you pm me so I know who you are.

Now that is weird. Have you tried ringing the number?

I didn't get the rest of the number as I was listening to the message. I haven't got that number in my mobile so it's not anyone I know.
Edit that: I now have the full number so I'm gonna try and see who it is.

I don't get how you know that it was SF members. Did the txt content gave it away ? Also, you mentioned your mobile, and then your home phone number... so which one was it that received the SMS ? (Yes, some home phones can receive SMS msg too.)

I used to think this too, but then again, a lot of people circulates numbers and things that I wouldn't know. I know it comes across as intimidating sometimes, so that is why I ask the person direct for their numbers, or at least I tell them who I got the numbers from. It's only ettiquette sometimes.

This way, I also eliminate fraud calls and numbers too.

I don't get how you know that it was SF members. Because their names were mentioned, how else would I know they were SF members? Also, you mentioned your mobile, and then your home phone number... so which one was it that received the SMS ? (Yes, some home phones can receive SMS msg too.)

I have just received a sms message to my home phone I think this gives you the clue that it was to my home phone.

It's all been resolved now anyway thanks to lizzmobile and the_rudeboy....

Curiouser and curiouser... Come on dibsy, what's it all about? A fellow forummer was sending a text to a number of people (including myself) and dibsys home number inadvertantly got added to the contact list. Simple as that.
