View Full Version : Has Anyone Heard If Anything Has Gone Off In London?
Just had a phone call from my b/f to say that he's just leaving London and it's chaos down there.
They've apparently shut off the underground and there's Police and sirens going off all over the place.
I've had sky news on but there's nothing on there about anything happening.
Is anyone else any the wiser?

Maybe it's just a hoax cos there's still nothing on the news.
I meant London...the capital
SupraSteve 09-05-2006, 09:34 Nothing on the BBC news website (http://news.bbc.co.uk/) at the moment

London
Not London Road :loopy: :hihi:
Oh dear, doesnt sound good. Fingers crossed its not serious
I have looked on the travel news and the only service disruption on the underground reported is due to a combination of signal failures and broken down trains.
There is nothing on BBC news about anything kicking off in London.
Therefore I would come to the conclusion that THERE IS NO NEED TO WORRY!

Where in London was he ? Has he been evacuated or was he on his way out anyway ?

He had to deliver something to Chesham and was then coming out of London when he saw all the going's on.
Oh no, hope everythings ok!
I'll keep checking the news.

Bomb scares happen on a regular basis across the Underground network which result in the evacuation of a station. There seems to be particular travel chaos today due to a signal failure but if there was anything serious going on we'd have heard it by now. Evacuations and police cars arriving aren't an abnormal occurrence down there.

Not good - fingers crossed all is ok
Anyone heard anything yet?
I've emailed someone at canary wharf and they aren't aware of anything and there's nothing in the news.
So most likely, there's nothing to hear.
If there was something to hear, it would be on every channel now as 'Breaking News' so i dont think theres anything to worry about
CanChick 09-05-2006, 12:45 When I was there last, there were 2 incidents that closed off the underground that didn't make the news. Each time they were false alarms. As someone said earlier, I think that's life in London....
I'd hate to live in London with all the bomb scares they have.

I thought you were going to say he was looking for someone to shag; hence the panic as people try to leave the city :)

Nah, he seems to have that one covered, however did hear that there was a national pie shortage
Erm... well I'm in London right now and nothing unusual seems to be happening... :suspect:
slimsid2000 09-05-2006, 14:16 Oh No - Not Again!
There's nothing on the BBC website about any incidents.
I was on the tube behind the one that went off in Kings Cross, was a scary scary day!
There is always tube stations that get shut down, usually down to little things like someone leaving a bag etc.
'Severe Delays' on Northern Line (http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tfl/realtime/), that's about all I can find. :)

It must have been some sort of hoax as he came out of London about 9-9.30 ish and said that police and sirens were going off everywhere.
