shoeshine 08-05-2006, 17:21 Rich...what the hell have you voted no for.........
You often bang your own drum on here........monotonously, agreed, but in some genres it can be made to work........:hihi:
ps you may respond with more than a one-line answer.........:)

Zinger, sorry to disappoint but the answer is no. Reasons being my interests in music are from an age when Joel McCrae rode through an American cornfield singing the opening words "There's a bright golden haze on the meadow"....in the film "Oklahoma",........Betty Hutton was driving the Deadwood Stage in "Annie Get Your Gun", Deborah Kerr was singing "Hello young lovers wherever you are" in "The King and I", Mitzi Gaynor was strutting her stuff on a beach in "South Pacific", and Deborah Kerr was teaching the King of Siam's children in "The King and I" "etc etc etc" as Yul Brynner was want to say often in the same film.....
Musical tastes of mine are also very dated.......Sinatra (the best ever male singer), Ella Fitzgerald, 50's Rock (Little Richard, Cliff Richard + Shadows, Lonnie (Skiffle) Donegan, Mark Knopfler's guitar solos, and all Country and Western Music from whenever.
All that answer is a bit long-winded to say "no", but there you have my sum total of what my contribution to such a Group would or could be.
Rather dated I think............I do strum the guitar, and play a keyboard, but it wouldn't work very well on an internet forum......:)
Many thanks for the invite though..and much appreciated.
lizzmobile 08-05-2006, 18:31 I wouldn't be able to take part in this, but it sounds like a good idea. Maybe you could get a band together; I know the DonK plays the gueee-tar :hihi:

lizzmobile 08-05-2006, 19:09 I am not going to comment on your comment :D
When you said 'serious replays only' Zinger, was that a pun or typo? :hihi:

No I was being serious, but then don K and serious don't go together :hihi:
lizzmobile 08-05-2006, 19:13 Ah, ok, you meant replies. Replays I took as a pun for doing cover versions... (thought it was a muuuuusic joke).
But he does play the guitar.

absynthfairy 09-05-2006, 08:40 I'd like to join... I sing with a soul/blues band at the moment but thats not my preferred style really... I'd quite like to do something acoustic, natalie imbruglia sort of style ideally or maybe some harmonic duets with another singer (appleton were very good at this even if the music industry didn't think so)... I also do a mean turn on the recorder/tin whistle. I have grade 8 clarient but I haven't played for 10 years - not sure I could now.... which I regret. Singing is my main passion though

Ok I'll add you to the list
basshedz2 09-05-2006, 09:43 I voted no , because I am tone deaf!
I've been told my singing is an effective siege breaker (http://www.psywarrior.com/rockmusic.html).

Can you play an instrument
CellarDoor 09-05-2006, 17:12 I'd be interested, I'm trying to learn blues/jazz keyboard at the moment. I'd also like to get into using Cubase or similar; I can use the basic midi features but anything beyond that and I'm lost

Ive been playing clarinet for 7 years and sax for 4 years
willdervish 09-05-2006, 20:41 I was thinking about this the other day. I play guitar and it would be cool to be able to 'network' (yack, horrible turn of phrase) with other musicians, rather than scouring the Noticeboard and Classifieds.
...That's a 'yes', by the way.

Never heard it but I'll give it a go. Is there anywhere I can download some samples from?
Zinger549 12-05-2006, 16:31 14 people so far any other takers
Banjo Griner 13-05-2006, 11:07 TBH I was surprised there wasn't a muso's group here. I'd be up for contributing - I play the 5-string banjo (bluegrass style), the 12-string guitar (bottleneck style), a Brazilian stringed 'drum' called a berimbau and a few other little bits now and then, like the tin whistle, harmonica, etc.
Most of the music sites based in Sheffield are strictly indie music, or limit discussion to guitar, bass and drums, which is ok but I have a whole range of tastes - and I've been looking for somewhere to talk technique with some of the more old-time or 'different' players. PM me etc.
Zinger549 16-05-2006, 10:38 I'd be up for this too.
I've added you to the list
Add me - I play accoustic / electric guitar. I play with a punk covers band called 77 (next gig fri 24/6/06 at the Nelson quick plug - but not THE plug <g>)
