looking for x pupils who attended carfield school 1950/65

look on friends reunited there are loads listed there for all various years.i went to carfield from 66 onwards,

I left in 1959, but I managed to find others on Friends Reunited without help from lint.

as if ide insult an heeleyite its not your fault that you went to the wrong school is it ah! . i also left in 1959 and went to anns road we had to treck all the way up kent hill from the cowsheds for morning lessons at anns and then all the way back again for school dinners so we were probebly fitter as well i lved on rushdale road where abouts did you live

Hi davided, I lived on Carter Road,I used to go over Kent road, do you remember the stream at the bottom,I had loads of friends from Rushdale road and around, we all used to go to the Jester coffee bar in the evenings till eight o'clock then through the gennel onto Abbeydale road to the Rendezvous till nine,great memories.I am in touch with two of our old school friends who now live further afield than us, one in Canada and the other in Australia, and at Christmas I organized a reunion as the one from Oz came over, and about sixteen of us met up in the Robin Hood and we had a great evening.

yes i remember the river paddled & piddled in it enough.remember the shops on rushdale robinsons corner shop hartleys greengrocers & harry roberts butchers across the road. just been ****ing to neil memmot another old friend lived on upper valley perhapse you dont remember him nick name beaver.

pauline is living somewhere near the elm tree pub at intake although its about 2 years ago since i last saw her in the butchers arms marsh lane i was gigging their and recognised her from the audience she,d been very ill,barry glynn passed away some time back he lived up dronfield new him well we were both in the same game (music) i rememder christine drew she was tall , veronica i remember her to, i lived a few doors up from paulune across from the bomb site remember that they used to park cars on it at one time i believe there are houses on it now .i now live on marsh lane above eckington not far from the butchers arms but spent the last 2 years living in my caravan in lincolnshire. **** to u soon (who are you )

I was at C.S.M. going through from the infants to juniors to what we called the seniors. leaving on the 31st March 1959. I hope I can get a few contacts as i seem to have lost all mine on Friends reunited. The name is Ken Foster.

I attended Carfield from 1947 t0 1952. In those days it was an 11+ pass school. God knows why, it was Dickensian as were some of the teachers. I recall Mis Knott who was the maths teacher, when she was not hell bent on ruining my life. I recall that was the worst time of my life.

Yes, I returned in Dec 2003 for a respite, getting a bit of the wanderlust again though, went to NZ in 2004, planning a trip to Oz next year then probaly going back to USA.

My wife attended from 1953 thro to 1957 and was then known as Janet Thompson, her mates were Breda Turton,Betty Wilson,Babara Oxley,Christine Cowen and Irene Sayles (also nicknamed "Gloops") We were also well known to Bob Nelson, Ann Sharman(Deceased) and Pete Thompson since, i married his sister Janet (all lived in Sturge Street ) and married in Heeley Church 1962. I was a pupil at Carfield between 1959 and when it closed in 1962, at which point we were all transferred to Newfield. My memories of the place are very mixed, the standard of education was apalling but fellow pupils were great.

I was a contemporary of Martin Ellis, Peter Cooke, Neil Oxley, David Coldwell, Roger Pluntree, Jackie Marriott and Stuart Abbott. If you are any of the above, my nickname was Mozzo and I would like to hear from you.

As my user name suggests I now live in Dorset but still follow the Blades.

We remember Roger Plumtree, he lived on Valley Road, we lived on Upper Valley Road (now husband & wife so Carfield has a lot to answer for!).
I think you're probably older than us though Mr. Duffems did transfer to Newfield when carfield closed in 1962, Mrs. Duffems took the 13+ and went on to Brincliffe Grammar School. We met up again when we were about 18 and, the rest is history.
Do you remember Pop Edlington (Headmaster) and our form teacher/geography teacher Mr.Vickers (Dobbin).
The best teacher in Carfield Secondary was Mr.Cartwright (Hoss), the maths teacher and the worst without a shadow of a doubt was Mr. Roach, he was evil.

Yes I remeber all of those teachers and agree, wholeheartedly, Mr Roach was one evil so and so. He took us for maths (I think?). Dobbin was a joy to behold and was our geography teacher. I remember on one occasion Jeff Caterer couldn't stop laughing in class and Dobbin literally blew a fuse. He had the whole class standing on their chairs and appeared to be on the verge of a nervous breakdown - not that I knew what that was at 14 years of age.

I was 15 when we all transferred to Newfield - what a scary the first day that was.

Do you remeber John Fowler (lived on Argyle Road), he may have been in your year?

Yes, we do remember John Fowler his nickname was "Eggo", he lived on Upper Valley Road the next house down from Graham White, straight opposite David Horsefield.

Hi Duffems,

Actually it was me who gave John Fowler the nickname of Eggo (was a character in the Beano in the late 50s "Eggo the Airship"). Yes, I was wrong about his address, but he and his family used to live with his aunt on Argyle Road before they moved to Upper Valley Road. I'm sure our paths must have crossed, I used to live opposite the main gate to Carfield Infants.

I left Meersbrook in 1970 when I married and left Sheffield in 1983, but until my mother died in 2000 I continued to visit Meersbrook on a regular basis.

Stuart Shaw once punched Mrs. D. so she has nothing good to say about him! She remembers Elizabeth Bowskill who went to Carfield and Brincliffe but, she doesn't recall the other name.
Jane Wood was a decent lass, we remember her moving to the caretaker's house, Vicky North lived opposite the school.
We think you were in the year above us at Carfield. Do you remember Mr.Davison who was our form teacher down at Ann's Road?

Yes I do remember those names and Derek Memmott,s older brother Neil. I think that he was in the year above me at Carfield and that Derek was in the year below. Didn't Derek once have a fairly serious accident sledging down Kent Hill?

Do you remember Eileen Dalton and her friend, Ann Jackson? Even though both of them passed their 11 plus exam they did not want to be separated and elected to go to Carfield instead. Mind you they were always top of the class in every subject, with the notable exception of history - my speciality.
