This is a review of Shayne Ward's album on Amazon, but I was more interested in the comments in general about celebrity culture and Z-lists. What do you think?
Society truly is in its descendency with this Karaoke music. Put your average pub singer on TV, get the crass culture creating magazines such as Heat! to promote the hell out of him, thus moulding the minds of the numerous idiots who waste their lives caring about the lives of other idiots with more money, and you have yet another "music star".
It really annoys me that rubbish such as this can be brought out and the people who buy it go on listening oblivious to their pivotal role in the downfall of civillisation. Our children are getting dumber. Their inspirations are now Paris Hilton and people like this guy, Shayne Ward. They watch the TV and swallow the dream sold to them: don't do anything with your life, just wait for your opportunity to get rich. Shayne Ward did it! Look at him! He worked as a postman or at McDonalds, and now he's a gazillionaire! Why bother reading or learning or any of that stuff, it won't get you on MTV!
This is music for people who judge music by looks. Ask them their opinion on these people, and their first reply will no doubt contain some reference to how "hot" they are, or how they're "like, sooo good looking". It's hard to blame them though, when you look at the plethora of cover songs contained on the album or songs written by other people. This is not music people. Music is meant to mean something. Musicians, REAL musicians; they sing from their heart, they write from their heart. Their music is their art, their talent and soul their paintbrush. Having some former burger-tossing rodent come into a studio and simply regurgitate the lyrics he is handed is not music.
Of course this will get to number 1. The soulless products of the Heat! Generation will go out in their droves and buy the record, ignoring the fact the last CD from the last pub singer from the last reality TV beauty contest, they had thrown in the bin last month. This should not happen. People, put down your "celebrity" magazines, and pick up a book. And no, not Jodie Marsh's new book or Wayne Rooney's, a REAL book. Learn. Educate yourself. Realise how terribly crass this whole culture you're part of, is. Realise the poisonous effect this culture has on the youth of today. Realise you can help change this and don't buy this record. Let Shayne go back to McDonalds. It's where he belongs.
