My brother has just got an alcohol licence for Coffee Moco on West St and is opening till late. It's the best coffee shop in the city (of course I'm biased). It's been open for over a year since it was extended, but I still don't think most people in Sheffield even knows it exists (am I wrong?). Is there a market out there on West St for a relaxed evening coffee / wine / bottled beer venue with a no smoking policy?

Moco is lovely and it being just down from a lot of the uni buildings I would've thought a lot of students go there... It's very central so I'm sure more people than you think know of it and it always seems busy.

Definately the later opening with alcohol too sounds nice, I hope it works out!

I pop in most days for a coffee, if I have time I sit in the coffee shop and read the paper. I quite like it, but I'm not sure I'd pop in for a beer!

Might be worth going to now.

Here's my recommendation! Moco really is THAT good :)

I heard that they were opening late with a drinks licence and I'll be down there tomorrow for a civilised one. It's about time we had a few proper café's that aren't just there to pack 'em in and take your cash while avoiding the spewing drunks :)

Good luck to Moco!

Hi
I believe local singer/songwriter Kathy Cookson is playing at Coffee Moco in West Street on Thursday 27th July from 8pm. Some of her stuff is similar to Suzanne Vega though she's quite versatile and I don't know what will be on her songlist for this gig.

My friends Ryan and Craig - duo Acoustic Child (http://www.acousticchild.co.uk) are also playing thursday night and they are fab - you can visit their website and listen to/download their stuff. Brill!

Hi "Absynthfairy",
This is nothing to do with this current thread - sorry - but I noticed you posted a message in July 05 saying you are an experienced singer, been in musicals, "would like to join an operatic society or choir to make some new friends and get back on the stage!" I'm new to Sheffield and in exactly the same position. I'm posting this message here since the other one is so old I thought you probably wouldn't read it!

Nobody ever posted a message in response to yours last year, but I'm hoping since a year has passed, you may have found out about some societies or choirs and could share that info with me, please! I live in Walkey/ Upperthorpe. Thanks in advance.
