What has happened to British TV?

The only original shows we get nowadays seem to come from America.

We do still produce outstanding comedy and documentaries but I'm tired of seeing ex soap stars getting paid millions to work for the "other side" making some god awful dribble about a nurse with 19 kids trying to get by whilst she's being mucked about by some scum bag.

Alternatively some chump who left a soap because they "wanted to try something new" ends up playing the new face in the bill and/or holby city etc etc etc etc.

The BBC and ITV are like big crap factories that seem intent or churning out crap :rant:

I happen to like quite a lot of the american medical drama's, although it's a shame there's little decent home grown drama.

We've had endless murder / cop / hospital drama's since the 1960's..............

No more Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps either after last Sunday :(

Depends what you like. Personally I like police/crime dramas. I love the US shows as well...most of them anyways.

I know! If it's not rubbish 'reality' t*ss (ruddy ballroom dancing on a Saturday evening is my current figure of TV hatred) then it's cop dramas. I hate 'whodunnits', I never even liked Famous Five books when I was a kid! I just don't care who dunnit. Turn to the last page and find out and cut out all the tedious 'story'!

I don't watch The Bill as much as I used to these days, unless you count watching the old ones on UK Gold.
