I went when Peter Andre and the Spice Girls were first around, and PJ and Duncan!! MumphitMan 09-05-2004, 20:31 Wen I went 2 years running it was Sheffield bands only or bands from local anyway. The Longpigs played both that I went to. It was cheep or nowt to get in there was hippies smoking all over and only a few toilets for loads of people drinking and eating strange food from various tents. Think there were a couple of staqes as well but I think I was in hippy mode then. neeeeeeeeeek 09-05-2004, 20:37 YEY, Elfin on the main stage, Headcharge tent, funfair rides.. a class A weekend from heaven!!! Awww, the memories.... Errrrrr.... would be good! he he I do remember going on a ride whilst rather trollied and then walking like a thunderbird when getting off! Shame they built a bloody ice ring on the place! Grrrrrr come to the big chill festival instead... it will be great.    Andy C 10-05-2004, 11:21 Yes, they did exist but not anymore - I think the events were losing money and they guy organising it felt he could not continue. Gouch 14-05-2004, 20:15 Yeah i agree with Neeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek - big sheffield outing to THE BIG CHILL festival .... Also anyone heard about the glade festival - line up looks a pretty hot (it's run by the same people who do the glade festival at Glastonberry) . Am off to the Indian National Banghra festival this weekend (no word of a lie!) bluemonday 24-04-2006, 18:06 I remember reading on here that this was coming back this year but cant find any reference to it now. Does anyone know if it is definately happening 29-30 July? And if so have any bands been lined up yet? deon 24-04-2006, 19:36 i remember "music in the sun" with fond memories, they had a tent playing reggae another playing kind of indie music! and a main event tent with live PAs and all sorts of food from west indian to fish n chips, it was brilliant for the whole family, wish it would come back it was wicked!!:) bigflesh 24-04-2006, 20:01 Hey, I remember them. I went when Peter Andre and the Spice Girls were first around, and PJ and Duncan!! was that not party in the park? i may be wrong of course. deon 24-04-2006, 20:27 was that not party in the park? i may be wrong of course. `i think your right bigflesh!! they were on at the arena if i remembr rightly? jake 24-04-2006, 20:39 Music in the Sun was a weird mix of indie, dance and loads of reggae acts - which was good - it genuinely got a multicultural crowd. I seem to remember the last one (not the ill fated Lakeside festival that ended up at Don Valley) fell between the two stools - it was about a tenner to get in - which was too much for the person who might just turn up on spec, but well below what anyone actually into the bands would have paid. So they didnt have many people in & lost loads of cash Shame as it was always a grand day out... bigflesh 24-04-2006, 20:56 Music in the Sun was a weird mix of indie, dance and loads of reggae acts - which was good - it genuinely got a multicultural crowd. Was mad hot it was - there was a real carnival atmosphere - in an area that was relativley new for the time. And yes, i do recall the Longpigs being on in one of the tents, although i never made it. nonstopable 25-04-2006, 04:18 Ah yes I remember it well... :headbang:  so well in fact that Music in the Sun until this week was set to return to the Don Valley Bowl this year on the 29th & 30th July... Unfortunately now it will not be happening in 2006, however it will be making a welcome return to the Bowl in 2007 when the award winning No.1 Multi-Cultural Festival will be back with a vengance!
