View Full Version : FRIENDS Finale!
Will you be one of those tearful worshippers when the series ends on 28th May here in Britain? . . . The last episode was shown in America on Wednesday and attracted 50 million viewers! the second largest audience this year - 1st being the Superbowl.
If you don't want to know what happens then stop reading here:
Ross & Rachel finally get together, she is leaving for a flight to Paris for a job and Ross meets her at the airport and they both declare their love aaah.
Monica & Chandler have twins! Joey heads off West to seek his forune as an actor and thats where the new spin off series ( Joey ) will begin. And i don't quite know what happens to Phoebe.
Wow is that yank trash finally over? Good, good.
Couldn't give a tinkers cuss. A load of old rot if ever I've seen any.
I used to despise Friends, until I watched it once. It's quite funny sometimes, but not hilarious. I don't think it lives up to the hype.
I think I'll watch the spin-off though, Joey is by far the strongest character.
I won't be sad to see the back of this programme too.
qazitory 10-05-2004, 12:29 Phoebe gets married. Friends isn't that bad, it has its moments.
mimicraze 10-05-2004, 18:27 i absolutely love friends, and all my amtes do too :) the spin off wont be too good tho, its the whole lot togethere that makes it funny.
qazitory 10-05-2004, 20:19 Well look at Cheers and Fraiser! Fraiser beats Cheers hands down!!
Yippee!! I won't have to hide the TV remote from my fiancee anymore!!
Zobalina 10-05-2004, 22:09 Patchy,
If you even thought about hiding the remote from me you know how much trouble you would be in!
ha ha ha!! I always wondered what that big thumb print on Patchy's head was!
PuressenceUK 11-05-2004, 13:47 Utter utter tosh. About as relevant to people in the UK as Delboy's 3 wheel van to a yank.
Why do they only go to a coffee bar? Why are they all off their heads? Why are there never any biffers in American comedies? Why does anyone watch it?
I have a question. What's a biffer?
PuressenceUK 12-05-2004, 11:58 Someone not blessed in the physical attractiveness department.
I saw the last episode thanks to the miracle of my housemate's downloading skills. I have to admit - I cried. Yes, the episode was that bad.
Susie, "let's get a cofffee." "Where should we go?"
I used to really really hate FRIENDS but i watched a couple of episodes with my bloke as he loves it (lol) and now im hooked. Its brill and ill be sad to see it go!
fuz x
andy1702 22-05-2004, 21:24 Is it really 11 years since I watched a pilot for a new US sitcom? I remember saying to someone at the time it was going to be big, and now here we are with competing networks in the US throuwing in the towel and not bothering to schedule their own shows up against the final episode of Friends.
I have to say it's the only show on TV guaranteed to make me laugh every time. And I think it's down to the team writing techniques they are so good at over there.
Friends will be hard to beat. Certainly no British sitcom will ever do it. They just aren't funny! The only on ethat gets close is Fawlty Towers.
With the end of SATC, Friends and Frasier soon, I'm pleased I don't have shares in C4!
I must admit, it is probably the only american sitcom that makes me laugh. I started watching it around 96 when my sis told me about it and it wasn't like any of the other comedies. In fact all the other comedies are more like friends.
I hope the spin off 'Joey' will continue in the same way and you never know . . . . the others might visit him in one-off Xmas specials!
Can someone confirm whether C4 shows a re-run of Friends on Sunday mornings? As im gonna miss it!!!!
If not i spose i'll have to figure out the timer-recording thingy on me vid.
it's a light hearted laugh. I'll miss it, slightly. There'll be plenty of repeats I haven't seen though.
noseyrosie 30-05-2004, 00:23 Oh I nearly cried!! I'm so sad...in both senses of the word!
It was so sweet and...
OK I'LL SHUT UP NOW
DaBouncer 30-05-2004, 11:25 Well some of you may know... I am an avid FRIENDS fanatic.
Have 9 series on DVD and the tenth will no doubt be in my Xmas pressies.
I LOVED the sitcom, from start to finish. And although I am gutted now it's finished, I feel the characters have that sense of moving into a new chapter in their lives. FRIENDS finishes on a high... which I'm glad for... rather than it finish with no one watching in say 5-10 yrs time.
I now look forward to the new series of Joey in september, and who knows maybe the cast of FRIENDS will have some cameo parts in the new spin off.
And in true FRIENDS finishing style:
------------
So, no one told you life was gonna be this way.
Your Job's a joke, you're broke, your love life's D.O.A.
It's like you're always stuck in second gear.
And it hasn't been your day, your week, your month, or even your year.
But -
I'll be there for you ... when the rain starts to fall.
I'll be there for you ... like I've been there before.
I'll be there for you ... cause you're there for me, too.
You're still in bed at ten and work began at eight.
You've burned your breakfast, so far things are going great.
Your mother warned you there'd be days like these.
But she didn't tell you when the world has brought you down to your knees.
That -
I'll be there for you ... when the rain starts to fall.
I'll be there for you ... like I've been there before.
I'll be there for you ... cause you're there for me, too.
I really used to enjoy Friends but felt it went off a bit in the later series where I couldn't really believe in their characters. Then I realised what it was, their Californian tans. For a bunch of flat dwelling New Yorkers they all sported unlikely tans. That, for me, broke down the reality and made them into just a bunch of well heeled actors playing New Yorkers. Shame really, plus the last episode was a bit of an anti-climax, imo.
karandak 30-05-2004, 15:45 I love Friends, and im glad it finished on a high as such, rather than when people didnt watch it anymore, but i also agree that the last episode was a bit of an anti-climax...not sure whether it was due to the fact i already knew what was going to happen, or that it just wasnt as "dramatic".
They did tie up loose ends, but i felt something was missing to make it a classic, (it prob will be one though, cos it was the last ever episode!) but it wasnt in the same league as 'the one with the prom video' or 'the one with the embryos'!
Looking forward to the Joey spin off series, hope it works well, it'll be fab, or it'll fall flat on its face!! They've gotta mention the other characters in it too, even if its just in passing, or Joey on the phone to them, cant not mention them after he's just spent the last 10 years of his life with them!! Would be daft!
commie pig 01-06-2004, 10:47 i just can't believe the ending was so similar to sex & the city (which i was forced to watch i point out), one of 'em moving to paris, one out of manhattan, a sorta saurprising wedding. total tosh.
and what the heck is channel 4 gonna do now, no friends frasier sex er, they may as well shut down now!

I think I heard something about the simpsons coming to channel 4.
I dunno where I heard it! :S
Trouncer 07-06-2004, 16:56 Yeah. Sad to see it go. Shame it had to end but it had to end. I reckon in 5-10yrs time they'll eventually get offeres to do a 'Firends, the Movie' where they'll get paid humugous amounts of money. They show them how they are 10yrs on or something, having a reunion at the Cafe Perk or something.
May end up being a set of serialised films (like the Bond movies or Harry Potter). One released every few years ? But then again, it might be too much ? Friends, the offsprings ?? Yuk !
what an insult to anyones intelligence this show really is.
hyped up rubbish.
plain jane jennifer anniston made out to be something beautiful.
what a load of crap

J. Aniston is beautiful!! Someone sounds a tad jealous! ;) Friends was a great TV show, compared to some of the British crap we get on our screens at the moment.
