There are two pillar boxes that had there doors blown off last November due to mindless yobs putting fireworks into them.
The two boxes are the only ones within a mile or more radius and the Post office have refused to repair them with a why should we attitude.
The area holds a great number of council property ( mine being on the private side ......SNOB ) and everyone has to get on a bus to post a letter.
Now i think the Post office should get off here back sides and sort this out by repairing them.
Them refusing to repair them are giving in to the yobs and its the inocent tax payer that is suffering.
Not everyone can travel just to post a damn letter.

Hmmmm tricky one that! They do have a public duty to make neccessary repairs, but how often is this happening?
Maybe contacting a higher section within the postal service is a good idea, after all isn't it still 'Royal' mail and the queen has certain responsibilities to the public.

When our phonebox was blown up last year it took us ages to get BT to give us another one but after a few months they thankfully installed a new one.
My thinking is that if you give into the yobs then they have won. We have a really bad problem with kids vadalising everything in their path around here (stannington) especially my block of flats. They graffitii all the time, smash up the phone box, bus shelters etc....but by cleaning the graffitii off everytime, putting new glass in the bus shelters, putting new phone boxes in etc...we are not letting them win. If you just give up and think why bother then what hope is there? things will just get even worse. Once people lose the will to fight then you may aswell give up on everything.

Erm, I've lost the plot here. You were discussing post boxes and bus shelters a minute ago and now you're onto personal issues. Perhaps that should have been a private message?

Perhaps it should... you're right... please accept our humble appologies for caring about a fellow board member! I'll ask Geoff to remove the posts if that will please you?

To be honest if a pillar box is liable to have it's doors blown off I wouldn't use it anyway for fear of having my letters burnt.
Bring back the cata - ninetails as they used in the old days, a good whipping is the answer.
