Hi all,

Couldn't get down Glossop Rd last night as it was totally blocked by 'rioting' lads and Police - heard there was a lot of fighting last night.

I think it was footy related.

Anyone know more and what caused it this time?

The games yesterday, (United at home to Crystal Palace and Wednesday away at Derby) were the last games of the season, generally, (play offs excepting) so there was bound to be some idiocy.

It was more than likely some brain-deads, who'd had a couple of sniffs at the barman's apron, and got lary.

The fuzz was all down eccy road as I was walking to the dev cat last night, and there were lots of groups of lads but no trouble really.

Why would the last games of the season make people want to fight? Have the teams not done very well or something?

Pathetic really isn't it?

Footy is important but no point fighting - just doesn't prove or solve anything

I was in the Penny Black pub in pond st when the Utd match was on - and the chanting my a bunch of young yop supporters there was positively EVIL - the chants, what they wouldnt do to Wednesday fans etc. ... so I'm not surprised the day ended in trouble - glad I stayed out of city center last night - still what a great pity when such a small punch of idiots waste so much police resources that could be diverted to other things ....

breathalyse fans on the way in and out of the grounds.

easy, cos even though a few nobheads will want a fight anyway, the 'crowd' mentality kicks in after a few...bet most of em wouldnt have the bottle with 'having a bottle'...

simple.

Someone CS gased Muse last night aswell. Something kicked off so some guy was indescriminately gassing people in there going on one. Surprising for in there, usually very sedate crowd, bit older ( 30's i mean ) than the usual crowds round town.

according to another thread, some posters think its fine to use violence(in front of kids) when its a road rage incident, but not fine when its to do with football??
sorry,but isnt that hypocracy??

IMO-in both of these cases, the use of violence is just plain WRONG
