the boat...urrrghhh....imagine getting full of booze then having to dance to cheesey music, on a boat swaying with the tide....with a revolving dancefloor....what a bright idea!

I've been told about the Boat! lol, in theory it sounds like a good idea, if you got that drunk and wanted to throw up you could just do it over the side. Also somebody told me of a bar where all the bar girls serve wearing skimpy bikini's!! is this true?? and if so whats it called?

That seemed to be most of the bars in Newcastle if my rather blurred memory serves me correctly.

Definitely agreed, don't go to the boat! It does have a revolving dancefloor, which is always fun but it smells and is really sweaty and yuk. The place with girls in bikinis will be Baja, my favourite. It depends what music you want, they play kind of cheesey pop and old 70's and 80's stuff. It's a good laugh, gets quite busy though. It's on the Gateshead side of the river, just roll over the Swing Bridge. My suggestion would be go to the Bigg Market first (it's full of charves, but is good for a laugh - think young girls and old women thinking they're still young girls and that's who you'll see!).

If you want to be a bit more upmarket start on the Quayside. There's a club called Sea, which I've never been to but apparently it's good. Bar 52 is supposed to be alright too.

Another club to avoid is Ikon, full of charves again and your shoes stick to the floor.

Have fun!

You could also try Blu Bambu which is similar to Baja, but I think you are best suited to Baja.

Also try and visit the Gate on your travels, is very nice in there. Maybe even Tiger Tiger?

iv'e always wondered what newcastle was like for a night out

is it all really cheesy and full of townies (or charves? as you call them in sheffield) or are there some decent, cool bars and clubs playing decent funky house and the like ???

We call them charves in Newcastle, I'm from Newcastle but in Sheffield. I haven't been out at home for ages but Legends used to be good and there's also Foundation that might be more your cup of tea (Bedhead). It's not all cheese, there's enough clubs to find something you like!

The Quayside isn't full of charves/townies at all. They're usually in the Bigg Market hanging outside of that well known pub KFC.

Hehe, well mine is all over the place, I've been mistaken for Welsh (gutting), Irish and Scottish. It's quite funny really :)...the mistaken identity not my accent :p

If you're serious about quality house music, then Shindig is the very best place to go in Newcastle. Very very good club.

Oh god, im getting nostaglia here over home.........

baja is probably the most cheesey place in the world, im not sure if thats a good thing. Yes the staff wear bikinis, but its quite expensive for cheese and if you go it might be a good idea to be comotosed before hand.

If thats your kinds of thing try buffolo joes as a pre bar across the road where girls also wear bikinis (with chaps) to service drinks.

Dont go to the Bigg market either you may get glassed by a big chava and the bars are hidious anyway (unless your a scooter fan)
