Had to clear some ivy off a fence today as it was swamping a tree and unfortunately exposed a blackbird's nest with sitting female. The nest remains in place OK and the bird hasn't moved but the ivy that was hiding it has gone. Can anyone in the know suggest any way that I can put some protection back without spooking the bird any more. (I have looked at RSPB website but no help there).

Looked in my Observer book of birds eggs but no help - the advice was not to disturb the natural cover in the first place nor visit the nest more than once in 24 hours or spend more than a minute at the nest.

Sorry but I think the damage may have been done.

a ".uk" was missed off.

Click here (http://www.voluntaryrescuecentre.org.uk/about.htm) for David (known as "Midge") and Anthea Midgley's website.
