Has anyone tried the goBallistic site up past crookes/broomhill off the A57?

I'm going on Sunday, just wondered whether anyone else had been.

in case anyone else wonders the paintball site is very good.
Well maintained guns, experienced marshalls, good game fields and reasonable prices. It's actually one of the best i've been too.

Best one I've been to is BPF (Bawtry Paintball Fields) - absolutely amazing day out, watch out for the Predator though :D

How much is it for a group of concessions? Is there a age limit?

Do they have a website?

well, we ordered through goballistic, which is http://www.goballistic.co.uk
The cost was £10 for the day inc lunch. Then my package was £50 and was 1000 balls and two pyro's.

If you purchase from national paintball games (i think) who actually run the site then it's £15, but only £5/hundred balls.
10% NUS discount available on balls if bought on site.

No group discounts as far as i'm aware, and I booked for 20.

Half day prices were £5 though GB, and £10 through Nat Paintball.

What games do they have at GoBallistic and what's the areas like? The reason I enjoyed Bawtry so much is because of the variation in areas and the Tree Top Fortress is a great laugh if not a bit painful :)

we didn't play on every field, but here's what we did play.

Standard woodland - get the flag to enemy base

Alley of death - small urban combat arena

bridge - typical bridge scenario with flag

hut - control the one large 'cottage' and get the flag into it to win.

crater - 3 craters one team defends, the other attacks. Works very well.

fortress - not on the scale of bawtry, more of a hill with a few walls around the top.

The attitude was much more professional than Bawtry, and the teams were far smaller. All the guns worked unlike at bawtry, and the marshalls didn't spend the time between sessions checking the guns using your ammo.

I think bawtry probably has the edge on the fields and scenarios, but the overall feel at sheffield was much better.

Might have to give it a go next time we decide to go then. Last time I was at Bawtry my gun died twice and ended up having to swap it - one time being when I was about 15ft from the flag in the village. Most unamusing running through the open with a blocked gun....... :)

Slightly off topic but..... has anyone ever tried an airsoft game/site - never have myself but wondered if it was any good being a hell of a lot cheaper than paintballing.

since you mention it, they were running airsoft games at the same site in sheffield.
Didn't see much of it, but I did see that they have much cooler replica weapons.
They were also running tournament paintball, who also had much cooler looking guns (although not replica's like the airsoft).

It's a real pitta when you get a gun that's always jamming, or where the balls curve every which way. There was still some curving going on, and towards the end my gun started bursting balls in the barrell, but I got it cleaned after that and it cleared it up again.

Well to be honest first time it jammed I had fell over into a trench and got some dust in it so that was my fault. It died altogether after dinner tho' so took a spare off one of the marshalls - seemed to be much more powerful than all the others as well. Housemate still has marks on his back from where I shot him a fair few times and this was last summer :)

As for Airsoft I've seen a lot of the equipment and it does look great fun - pistols, assault rifles, sniper rifles etc. and under a tenner for 4k rounds or so. Only thing I don't get is how it works, it's not as though you get marked so do you just rely on peoples honesty or what???!!

HI guys,
I am new to Sheffield and I am a girl. Not the best qualifications to know a lot of people enjoying paintball. But I have played before and would like to do it again. So if there is any group out there which could cope with a female I would be happy to join for a play or two :-).

Greetings,
Mondey

I'll post on here next time I'm going. Tends to either be a group of mates though, or the sheffield uni jitsu club.
Come join the club, then you're sure to get included in the paintball.

Our plan is to try a 2 hour indoor arena game at Bradford next.

Is the price on the site for a group or per person?

Cyclone

Hi Guys,
I've been to that site and played airsoft. Its quite good actually, very impressed.
Airsoft is way better cos you get given scenarios rather than just "grab the flag" and games can last hours rather than minutes!
Plus your shooting a weapon that looks and feels real.
I tried to attach a pic of us at an event in Wales that re-created the film Black Hawk Down, but im not allowed, if you want to see them, drop me a PM with your email and ill send them on.
Cheers

I went to Bawtry on a work-related stag-do this saturday and I was reinforced in my liking for the game. I think I'd like to play more regularly.

Anyone knows of clubs etc to join?

Hi guys.

I'm a marshall up at the Sheffield site. The site is actually called The Danger Zone.

Heres the website: http://www.dangerzoneuk.co.uk/

I'm pleased you like us better than Bawtry. I've never played there, but feedback we get at the site here is that Bawtry, while "looking" better, tend to be be less customer orientated. (Hey, i'm being diplomatic here. YOU know what I'm trying to say :) )

If you fancy coming up to the site, have a gander at the website, or check us out in the Yellow Pages.

Theres also the shop at Holme Lane, Malin Bridge if you want to pop in and see Chris the owner. I'd recommend ringing him first though. 0114 2852477.

See you all up there!

PS, if anyone would like to know more about Airsofting, drop me a line, and I'll chuck you a load of links...

PPS... Airsoft kicks paintballs ass :)

I actually was thinking just today to check out the dangerzone shop since I live fairly closeby. I've been looking at getting my own marker, so far I'm leaning towards a Tippmann 98 Custom with flatline barrel. What do you think?

Would it be possible to test shoot markers at that shop?

Give Chris a ring!

He doesn't have a firing range, but he'll let you have a feel of anything he has in the shop (OO-er!)

Armin,

If your looking at the Tippmann range i'd rather go for a tippy A4 rather than the 98. I personlly don't like either but i've owed both the 98 and the A4 and I prefered the A4 by a long way.

OOO and another oppertunity to boast about my Evo Cocker :P :P
