Hello people,

It's my 21st soon and I'm planning a meal out then drinks etc (highly original) but I don't know where to go for food! I've been to the noodle bar in West One and though it was ok, but other people I've spoken too said it wasn't. Has anyone been? Maybe the time I went was a one off? Also, there's another eaty place 'round there that looks nice but I'd like to know what the food's like etc before I book as I'd hate it to be horrible for everyone. Also, has anyone been to Nandos? Or know of any other nice places?? Kind of near West Street/in town would be good.

Thanks :)

I've been to the noodle bar (East One I think its called) several times and had no problems with it - however it may not be the bet place for a relaxed meal as the set up is as a noodle bar - i.e. benches and quick food! You could try the Bai Hoi (or however it is spelled!) which does a more buffet style evening meal - I've not tried it but myself but have heard good things about it :)

Hmm. I originally wanted to go to the Chinese buffet place near the Crucible but decided against it due to the time limit they give you to sit and eat.

Ta for your reply :)

East one yum yum but I agree maybes not not for a birthday meal.

Ive been to the italian and that was quite nice and the interior was nice too-bigger than you think!

You should have a wander around because they all have meal deals and special offers so you could pick your self up a bargain.

Personal favourite is Piccolos on West St-the garlic bread is heaven

BBs on Division Street is good, but you have to book well in advance. The Bombay, just off Division Street, near the Frog And Parrot, is good for indian. Que Pasa is nice for italian/mexican stuff. Ive also heard good things about La Mancha, but havent been there myself.

Ooh where's that/what kind of food/price range etc?

I've been planning on having a wander 'round for the last few days but stuff keeps getting in the way. I will tomorrow :p

Yep this is a good place and they will sit you upstairs if there is a big group of you, it is not a bad thing and it is good food.

Not sure about the booking but they also put you upstairs if there is a large group of you, tis cosy and not rushed. And it is take your own wine. And the food is really nice, just a warning if you ask for chillies you get chillies, very good.

I went to BBs last week and wasn't that impressed, mainly cos we were stuck upstairs with a masseeeeeeeve group of smokers. Plus I was crammed inbetween a radioator and the table.

I'm still tempted by the noodle bar 'cause it was cheap and big portions. Do they shove you out after a set time? Anyone know if they take bookings?

Sorry for all the questions!

At west 1, is las iguanas. very very good. tip em well, because i reckon the service is the friendliest in sheffield. They are all lovely in there, costs about £15 per head and poss the best cocktail I have ever had...raspberry martini. i'm not an employee, just raving about it because i've been to some really poor places to eat around town!

You say you wanted to go to the Chinese buffet near the Crucible (do you mean Jumbo's?) Have you tried the No1 CHinese Buffet down near Ponds Forge?

It's big, can easily accomadate you and a large group of friends, and whilst not traditionally Chinese in decor is clean and the food is brilliant. There's no time limit you can be in there and prices range from about £6-£8 (depending on mid-week/weekend, student etc), which I don't think can be argued with!

Enjoy your birthday!

Yeah I meant Jumbo's. I had heard of the other place but I was hoping to be nearish West Street so we can roll out and roll down to some pubs. I know Jumbo's isn't that close but it's near The Monk etc. I might look at the menus for Las Iguanas, but it seems a bit pricey.

Hmm decisions decisions!

Sheiks is near there. Its a Lebanes place. I've had several good meals there and will definitely be going back. Don't remember it being pricey. Have a good one!
