I, good RE teacher that I am, was appalled. markwit 26-04-2006, 08:51 Try these Sheffield Jewish Congregation & Centre 127, Psalter Lane, Sheffield, South Yorkshire S11 8UX Tel: 0114 255 2296 I am also pretty sure there is a Synagogue on Kingfield Road near the address above. Granma 26-04-2006, 09:49 The building at Wilson Road is no longer a synagogue. Granma. Granma nicolasg 27-04-2006, 20:46 I don't know if I am to late but I have plenty of jewish skull caps ( proper name cupple) If you still need one please pm me rubydazzler 27-04-2006, 21:15 I don't know if I am to late but I have plenty of jewish skull caps ( proper name cupple) If you still need one please pm me I thought they were called either a "kippah" or "yarmulke" ... what am I thinking of then? Plain Talker 27-04-2006, 23:04 I thought they were called either a "kippah" or "yarmulke" ... what am I thinking of then? they are the only two names that I know the skull caps by, too, ruby! I know that the woman's head-covering (wig or scarf) is a Scheitel or Scheitl (SP) PT Seadiver 28-04-2006, 00:33 I thought they were called either a "kippah" or "yarmulke" ... what am I thinking of then? A Kippah pronounced kipper is a fish you can eat for brecky in posh hotels and yarmulke is a soothing ointment used when suffering from a bad case of the River Niles or Farmer Giles or Plymouths if you prefer. bluebird62 28-04-2006, 06:32 Does anyone know where there is a Synagogue in Sheffield? Thanks in advance! :) hi absynthfairy there is one on colley road just of ecclesfield road juliediane absynthfairy 28-04-2006, 08:36 I thought they were called Yamulkah too - thats what it says in all my textbooks anyway! Anyway - the show was saved and one was provided. Thank you for all the help and guidance peeps! nicolasg 28-04-2006, 20:19 All the the names that you have mentioned are correct. As for what it says in certain text books I don't know, but with my husband being jewish and having converted to judaism myself I have always refered to them as that. Leigh 28-04-2006, 21:50 Yamulkah = more traditional, maybe 'posher' Kippah = standard name by more religious jews Cuppel = standard name by less religious jews |
