Hi all.

Anyway, on Saturday I went down to the Vodafone shop in Meadowhall to see about re-organising my tariff as the 6 month half price line rental was up on the 22nd of this month, or so I thought.

When I tried to enquire as to whether I could alter the tariff, I was told that I couldn't till I'd had the phone 9 months, and that for the next 3 months my contract price would DOUBLE to £30 a month, I'm sorry but WTF?! I was told a week last Tuesday ago that the tariff was up for re-doing on the 22nd, which was last Saturday, now they turn round and tell me that it's in the small print of my contract that I can't change it till 9 months has passed since I got my phone at around the end of last October!

My question is, is this legal?! If I challenged them on it would I have a leg to stand on? Based on the fact that when the guy looked me up on his computer the other week it turned out that my contract tariff was due for re-doing on Saturday, now they're saying I'm stuck paying £30 a month for next 3 months till it's allegedly due for re-doing! Damn you ruddy small print!

They usually write this unwelcome info in print you need an electron microscope to read.
Still legal I think.

I'm on voda and had a similar deal (half price for first 6 months). After the 6 months were up I just rang up and asked to go onto a new cheaper tariff that suited me. They did it without questioning it at all.

It's possible the person you spoke to made a mistake. If the contract you signed says your line rental will go up after expiration of a promotional deal then I guess you're stuck with it. Unless you can *prove* you were mis-sold it.

Just read the terms and conditions on the voda website and it does say that you can only 'up' your tariff during the first 9 months. They must have change their terms since I got mine cos I definitely swapped to a cheaper tariff after the half price period was up. Looks like your stuck with it Rich.

It seems fair enough - you get 6 months half price, after that period it goes up to full price. Surely you were expecting this?

I guess it would be nice to use up the special rate and then find a cheaper tariff, but can understand why Vodafone aren't too keen.

Stick to PAYG - its less hassle.

Not when I was going through £20 a month in top ups on most networks, works out cheaper for me to be on a £15 a month contract with Voda then nearly all my calls are free.

I do see your point though.

Edit:

Way back around the back end of last October when I first took out the contract with Voda, I was told that after the 6 month half price line rental was up, I could come in and re-organise my tariff so that I was still paying £15 a month instead of £30.

Now it seems I was sold a Pup, as apparently it's in the small print that the half price line rental is for 9 months, not 6, so I'm now stuck paying £30 a month till probably end of July at least

I wouldn't mind and if they'd TOLD me in the first place that it was 9 months half price and not 6 there wouldn't have been a problem, but.. I'm sorry but, WTF?!
