Am <hopefully> moving to Basegreen in the next few weeks and was wondering if any of you lovely pple out there knew if you get much trouble round the back of the shops on Jaunty?

I went and had a quick look last nite and there were some <about 6 or so> kids hanging about on the back of a block of flats, but was wondering if they tend to cause much trouble, drink, smoke, do drugs etc etc etc on the bit of grass between the shops and Lister Avenue or whether they just hang around?

Any advice would be welcome!!!!

Hiya,

Im 17 and i used to be one of those "kids" i am no longer.

We used to go up on a Friday night sometimes with a drink and yes most of them get blindo and smoke alot but they usually just stay on the shops and on the wall outside the pub so not that much bother well they wernt when i was there anyway. just your usual bored teenagers but would neva rob your car or put windows through nothing like that,

Overall its an OK area better than most i wouldnt mind living there!

Well as i say i used to hang around on there when i was in Y11 and i know full well we just used to sit and have a drink but never caused anyone any trouble. y would we? wots the point of causing someone else bother for ur own pleasure when we can easily please our selves.

It wasnt that often we was on there holliend park was the favourite spot i think basegreen is a gr8 area 2 live on.

I'm not saying it was you and your friends on this occasion, that was throwing the rocks.

But there was some kids hanging out there this particular night throwing rocks. Don't think my sister makes a habbit of going out telling off innocent people for her own fun. She had more important things to do such as getting her young children to sleep at nights without having the fear of rocks coming through their bedroom windows.

Admittedly of late, it hasn't been too bad, but she still would like to move houses if she could afford to.

This area did at one point have a bad reputation.

Maybe it has quietened down over last couple of years, but I'm not wanting an argument i'm only offering my opinion, just like you are offering yours. :)

i totally understand where your coming from i think anyone who has a council house or has lived in one has at some time had some trouble god i no we have i used to live on Park Hill now if you want rough go down there for a few months,

Na basegreen seems fine now watch out for the birley kids though they are nasty lil things, i was from city and we just usually went out for a laugh and to see friends, you will soon get to know the idiots luckily now i think basegreen is on curfue i no most areas are such as Woodthorpe, Intake (some) etc overall i think you will be fine just stay away from the idiots and dont confront them they seem to enjoy it more.

I know you wasnt indicating it @ me and i can understand where your coming from i think its disgusting the way some teenagers go on just to get kicks its wrong and damn right selfish.

Yeah your right there.. but it gives every other 'innocent group of kids' bad names.

Funny we saw a group of about 6 lads wandering around booting a football down the middle of the road at the oncoming cars (it actually hit one) and my sister said she hadn't seem them around here before, thought they may have been from another estate out for causing trouble, you never know!

As for Birley and City pupils.. they haven't got on for years

Something that is puzzling me:-

Most kids in this area go to Birley School

you will soon get to know the idiots luckily now i think basegreen is on curfue :)

If it's a great trouble free place... why is there a curfew?

overall i think you will be fine just stay away from the idiots and dont confront them they seem to enjoy it more.

:)

Thought the gangs of kids we're no trouble?

Well when i used to go up and hang around on intake/gleadless we was on 9pm curfew if your found after that time then you are taken home by police, its on curfew for anti-social behaviour, Basegreen is a fine place i was joking about the birley kids im from city so its in my nature to give them a dig sorry.

Dont think you should have any trouble on there its fine, see theres alot of private houses mixed in with council which usually gets you a good area well as good as your going to get with the council i suppose.

I know this is a very old thread - but I live at Base Green and we have loads of problems with gangs. Cars vandalised, windows broken regularly. Any one else having problems in this area?
