My phone will not connect to the telephone numbers given out on Saturday kitchen and I wondered whether any other users had this problem.

The number for the competition is 090 11 22 33 66 but as soon as I press that first number 3 then the line goes dead.
Similarly another of their numbers is 090 11 90 33 33 but when I try this one the line goes dead after the second 3.

I've tried using my mobile and on both occasions got the message - Divert On Call Barred

Anyone any ideas? The programme on at the moment is not a repeat.

Try going onto the Live Chatroom and give them some grief about it!

It sounds like your phone's barred from calling premium rate numbers. Is it your own phone? If so call your phone company. If it's registered to someone else they'll have to call.

Someone told me its because I'm a Telewest customer and some premium numbers are blocked which explains why the landline won't work but doesn't explain the mobile not working.

Mobile numbers are often blocked from calling premium rate numbers by default - I remember (a long time ago) trying to vote in the first Big Brother and both me and my friends being unable to call the voting line from our mobiles (this is why in phone in competitions they usually have text message entry now).

If you contact your network provider, they will be able to unblock premium rate numbers for you. The same with Telewest if you contact them.

Nah, sod 'em. If they want to have a premium rate line then it serves them right if people can't ring it. I wasn't that desperate for some new pots and pans anyway.
