All i seem to know about this movie is that it's currently being shot in New Zealand and we shall finally see Darth Vader emerge! WooHoo!

Anyone got any updates?? . . I cant wait for this episode but cannot seem to find out much about it!.

there's a big lightsabre smackdown at the end between Anakin and Obi Wan that leaves Anakin needing all the machinery.....

I presume we might see a young Luke and Leia..... but not sure.

Chewbacca's in it apparently, once again being played by Peter Mayhew who played the big hairy Wookie in the original trilogy.

There's also talk of David Prowse donning the Darth Vader suit again and James Earl Jone doing Vader's voice.

johnjo

James Earl Jones has already done his Talkie bit (word is, in case he kippers it) He is in the last 10 mins of the film.

A lot of inconsistencies are sewn up in this movie (C3PO and R2D2's memories are wiped) Chewie is in it and takes the Anakin's children.

Word is Anakin completes his journey to the dark side by striking down Count Dookoo in front of the Emperor (a' la Return of the Jedi when Luke refuses) to slain Vader.

Mace Windo is slain and word is Anakin kills all the "youngling jedi's" as well.

apparently what happens is:

Anakin gets annoyed (censored) of coz he is told and shown the death of Amidala, which at tha tpoint isn't true, so he fights ObiWan.
that fight is supposed to happen on a volcano and involves surfing (w0000t ?) at the end of the fight anakin needs robotics to survive.

Chewie is in it coz some action is on his home planet Kashyk or sommut like that.

I have duly searched the Forum to find a reference to the 6th part of the holy trilogy. (?)

I just wanted to share this little treat with anyone that cares about this sort of thing*...

I think I am slowly revealing my tendancies towards Science Fiction on this Forum**

http://www.starwars.com/episode-iii/release/promo/diet_pepsi.html

I think it's really funny.

*Anyone who cares about this sort of thing has probably already seen this. Sorry.

**Is this a bad thing? (Probably).

I have so spoiled this film for myself by reading the script!!! not sure if its the real one but have been on loads of spoiler sites also. There are so many lightsaber battles it is hard to keep up - heres a few of them.

Mod Note - Spoiler Hidden. Highlight text box to view.

Anakin/Obi vs Dooku
General Grevious (early Darth Vader with FOUR lightsabers) vs Obi
Palpatine vs Mace Windu
Palpatine vs Yoda
Obi vs Anakin

Also the Death Star construction is seen.

Anakin does NOT turn to the dark side when he kills Dooku it happens when he goes to the jedi temple and does some terrible things (Ill not spoil it PM me if you want to know!)

Qui gon Jinn (Liam Neeson) is also set to return as a force ghost but this is not confirmed for the final cut of the film.

Luke and Liea are both in it, Chewbacca is in it. and it is rumoured that the millennium falcoln will be in it.

This film is gonna ROCK!

I haven't followed your link Lestat, just in case... I hope it's not serious! There are certain things that you will only ever get to do once in your life: Pass your driving test, loose your virginity, see a brand new Star Wars film for the first time in the Theatre.

(And it looks as if that may be something our generation will be the first and last to experience... there will be no more new Star Wars movie's released). Let's try and keep it special for... let me guess...

10 days!!!!!

Im still getting bad feelings about this one...
Even though I've seen the trailers and the sneak previews of the film and it looks good.

I know Im gonna be really dissapointed with Darth Vader, I know he is only gonna be in it for the last few minutes, but I've got the feeling its gonna be.. "Arise lord vader" "Yes Master" and then Vader, and the emperor stood on the deck of the death star together looking out into space - and close film.

Thats it, and Im gonna be seriously narked if it is.

Thats why Im not booking to see it in cinemas because I know for a fact that stupid chav kids will be in the same screening ruining the film for me as per usual with them ******* about with the mobiles, and throwing stuff and talking.

EDIT:

And also if its got that sodding Binks in it again, please everyone tell me when he's on so I can fast forward it when I get it on DVD later in the year.

I can honestly say that Jar Jar Binks is NOT in Episode 3, and he was only in 1 scene in the whole of Attack of the Clones.

To be honest though I don't see why all the SW nerds bitch and whine about JJB, sure he was an integral part of the plot of Phantom Menace but his part in the prequel trilogy has gotten gradually smaller.

Did you read through it? Some of the points, particularly at the beginning, are rather flippant, but it's certainly not rubbish, especially number 24.

I grew up with, and loved, the first three Star Wars movies. Looking back, they are far from perfect, but I still enjoy them for what they are, good childrens' entertainment. The Phantom Menace almost reached the level of good childrens' entertainment, Attack of the Clones was absolutey dire, and I just can't be bothered to find out whether Lucas has learnt any lessons since then.

Lestat

It is good childrens / grown up childrens, entertainment. The quality of films nowadays is amazing, I like the original 3 Star Wars films and I like the 2 so far - The story is such that you can just sit back - relax and lose yourself for a couple of hours.

Who cares which way the story takes you or how many twists or who dies etc . . . it's all part of the fun. As for the commercial aspects - If people want to take it OTT serious then thats their choice, it only costs a few pounds to watch the film and it's free to be a fan.

Whats all the fuss?

The original was a brilliant original film, and Empire Strikes Back was equally well put together, but th films are steadily going downhill, and God only knows how bad it would be by the time it got to the ninth!

Any good idea in films these days has to be absolutely bled dry so that you end up forgetting what was so good about it originally.

Because George Lucas originally planned the story in 9 films, but condensed the story down to 6.. With the original trilogy (Eps 4 to 6) first and then the current prequel trilogy (Eps 1-3), if you look on www.supershadow.com there's a plot for Episodes 7-9 but I doubt they'll ever get made.

And the slightly more cynical version of that....

He would not have been able to make them in order 1 to 9 because if he had released Phantom Menace first there would never have been another one.

Episodes 7-9 have never been written (this has been confirmed by Lucas in several interviews.

Those in the know about star wars, know that supershadow is absolutely full of Sh***e. He is a wiered stalker who thinks Lucas is his best friend! If you read his stuff it turns out he thinks Lucas runs every star wars idea past him before it is put in the movies!

Lucas does not need to make 7-9 as he is making a tv series (which i am a bit dubious about) set between Episode 3 and 4 (a twenty year gap) so he will bleed it even more with that.

Anyway not long to go now! Going to see it twice on Thursday. Had to book A/L as it will be soooo obvious if i throw a sickie!

well, that brings up something else I was going to mention. Did you happen to hear about the Jurassic Park 4!? Now honestly, I think that they are getting a bit carried away with that. Got my tickets for the 20th. Cannot wait.

I'm with a few of you. the originals are classics, the prequels decent films on there own. Fingers crossed for the Sith.

George Lucas has been too stubborn in my opinion and kept the prequels to himself. He should have got his ideas on how he saw Star Wars 1-3 and given it to good screenwriters.

Lets' hope he does with Indie 4

OH MY GOD! THIS FILM RULES!

I went to see it in the early hours and can say fans will not be let down. It has everything, the great story (have to confess to filling up a couple of times), the fantastic special effects (General Greivous kicks butt) the really cheesey dialogue! (which ilove!)

I dont think it'll win many over who dont like the prequels but in my opinion it is as good and if not better than Empire Stikes Back (a bold statment indeed!).

SPOILER ALERT!!!

Well I have just watched it and at best it was ok. The first half hour was pointless and it only got good when Vadar started killing all the jedi.

I have the following issues.

1. Given that Obi-Wan has on more than one occasion been in close personal contact with R2, then why is it in A New Hope that he "can't recall owning any droids" ???
I don't know about you but I would have very clear memories of an over-active, funny sounding 4 ft high tin can

2. Where did R2-D2 rocket engine thingys come from??

3. General Grievous was a huge disappointment. Apart from him needing a good sip of benylin, he didn't exactly "kick ass" for me. What was the point of him coughing and limping. If there had been a back story involved then it might have made things clearer...eg..maybe he was a Sith Lord reincarnated in a similar fashion to Darth Vadar ??? but otherwise it made no sense.

4. Crap script and dialogue

5. Why involve Wookies..apart from a fan pleasing perspective the battle of Kasshyyk was fleeting and not important to the whole plot..as for a wookie making the sound of Tarzan whilst swinging on a rope......

6. Droids...rubbish..end of.

Anything would have been an improvement on the previous 2 as they were dire but once again I'm left feeling a little disappointed. The overall romance of Star Wars has got lost and forgotten behind poor CGI effects and over merchandising. If only people could look at the film without rose tinted glasses then its a 2, maybe 3 out of 5.
Lets hope George Lucas leaves it all alone now and retires peacefully to his ranch to leave younger, more talented film makers to entertain us.

1. Obi doesn't own R2, so it is not a lie 'from a certain point of view.

2. It was an upgrade Anakin gives him. Maybe they broke in the 20 year period between films?

3. General Grievous coughed and limped because Mace Windu kicked his ass in the clone wars cartoon then crushed his chest plate. The back is there if you know where to look.

4. Cant argue with that but ALL 6 films have bad dialogue but the bad dialogue is all part of the fun! lets face it, the bad dialogue is as much a part of the entire series as lightsabers are.

5. Yoda was on Kashyyk as it is part of the story! If he'd been at the temple it would have been a totally different story. You are not the story teller Lucas is so dont expect him to have the same ideas as you.

6. Which droids exactly? R2 and 3PO are there as entertainment for the younger audience, as they were in the original trilogy. If you mean the battle droids how are they any more rubbish than stormtroopers? None of then can shhot for toffee either way!

As for 'rose tinted specs' i dont wear them so cant comment. Yes there are faults with this film (name one that does not have some!) but with a little imagination (these are FANTASY films after all!) and an open mind it is a fitting end to the prequel trilogy.

Carry on George!

i went to see it last night and thought it was fantastic. i didn't sit there and analyse the crap out of it. i sat, watched, was hugely entertained and came away feeling very happy and loving Star Wars more than ever.

Hayden Christenson is a rubbish actor as far as i'm concerned and i think that spoiled it a bit for me.

Still loved it so much tho. Can't stop thinking about it today! really want to go see it again, like right now!!!!

I saw it last night and loved it.

Yes the acting is poor and the dialouge rubbush, but its hugely entertaining and a bit sad too. only a few tears emerged with 'you were my brother'...

Its great!

Go see it!

:o WOW! :o

2 hours of pure bliss! . . . I can now die happy. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!!

So much more emotion, brilliant fight scenes - 'General Grievous & Obi 1' the 4 armed sabre fight, wonderful. I actually felt for the characters much, much more in episode 3 - especially the OB1 & Anakin situation after the fight over the lava.

George Lucas is a genius storyteller and this was his greatest moment, I never wanted the film to end - it just kept me guessing what was going to happen next all the way through.

Obviously the hi-light of the whole film was to see Darth Vader 'Rise' and also the birth of Leah & Luke.

I don't want to say any more about the film as it will ruin it for people but it's just a case of 'GO SEE IT!' it is worth all the hype. I can safely say I'll be seeing it again & again & again . .

FANTASTIC!! AMAZING!! BRILLIANT!! WONDERFUL!! MAGIC!!

Yep its a brilliant film, i enjoyed it very much! Went to see it with my brother and he loved it too, he even bought a light sabre off ebay costing him £80! it makes the sound effects too, pretty cool i think!

Just got back from viewing the film down at UGC, and WOW! Totally lived up to my expectations, and beyond! I'm already planning to see it again at some point, if only the bloody silly muppets at UGC would get off their asses and FIX the ticket collection machines! This was the second time I've had to get my tickets from the checkouts, having to queue.. And the whole point of advance booking in the first place is to AVOID the queues!

Didn't let that minor annoyance spoil the film though as mentioned

hey rich,

i acknowledge that the machines being down isn't your problem and shouldn't affect your visit to the cinema (after all you did book in advance on purpose), but if it happens in the future don't hesitate to find a member of staff (probably the doorman on doors 1-7 will be the best) who will have your tickets printed for you and will get a manager to look at the machine in question....

I have the following issues.

1. Given that Obi-Wan has on more than one occasion been in close personal contact with R2, then why is it in A New Hope that he "can't recall owning any droids" ???
I don't know about you but I would have very clear memories of an over-active, funny sounding 4 ft high tin can

its was a long time, if you had waited that long im sure you would forget what your droids look like

2. Where did R2-D2 rocket engine thingys come from??

All the droid get modified within the movies, its expected, everyone is a boy racer in future so modification is a requirement!!!

3. General Grievous was a huge disappointment. Apart from him needing a good sip of benylin, he didn't exactly "kick ass" for me. What was the point of him coughing and limping. If there had been a back story involved then it might have made things clearer...eg..maybe he was a Sith Lord reincarnated in a similar fashion to Darth Vadar ??? but otherwise it made no sense.

he kicked some ass, that four lightsaber bit was a little OTT and if he honestly has some jedi powers (good or bad) im sure four vs 1 is a sure winner, but did you not notice his heart was strung in mid air, most of his organs were not present, and he was completely on ventilation through his suit. I think people think he is a robot but he is not.

4. Crap script and dialogue

you could not be more wrong on that one, what do you want, hamlet or star wars?

5. Why involve Wookies..apart from a fan pleasing perspective the battle of Kasshyyk was fleeting and not important to the whole plot..as for a wookie making the sound of Tarzan whilst swinging on a rope......

is the story the wookies dont actually have a choice in being involved, they are being attacked. They are a strong allie to the jedi and as such they send the repubic to protect (so they thought)

6. Droids...rubbish..end of.

some people have no appreciation of hard work, ide love to see you make a driod out of software, its bloody hard, have a go!

im afraid that anything that is started should always be finished. Star Wars is on of the best know sets of movie in the world, if not the best know. Its both financially and morally correct for him to continue his work as there are many fans that will be dissapointed. I for one, if i end up rich (not very likely!)and found out that they were not making them, would pay to have them made. If you love it or hate it, you watch it, so you must enjoy it on some level.

I saw this movie yesterday and i was amazed. It was worth every penny. The character building, the actors/ress' were amazing, both realistic and powerful use of CGI matched with a great deal of "REAL" movie making. The story was perfect and to be honest, with the eps 1&2 being a little kiddie friendly (nice to watch but far to bright and nicey), it was refreshing to see a movie about the dark side as that is missing in many of the other movies.

George, i salute you!

I haven't dared look at this thread until seeing it!

That was a proper Star Wars movie. (pity the first 2 were so awful in comparisson).

Loved the darkness of it all. A grown up, emotional and intelligent end to the series. I felt like a proper fan once more.

SPOILER ALERT

On first viewing, plus points:
The dog fight at the start & R2D2 kicking ass.
The big betrayal by the clone army... (so sad).
Yoda fights his last ever fight... and doesn't win.

And negative:
What were the wookies all about? (Was it just me or was Yoda saying he will miss Chewbacca and getting in that wee spaceship a tribute to E.T???)
The lack of revelations... Darth Sidious was obviously responsible for Anakin's conception. But there was so much left unexplained.

But apart from that there wasn't too much negative about that film.

Better than 'A New Hope' and probably on a par with 'Return of the Jedi'; but not as good as 'Empire'... Who knows, maybe my opinion will change when I watch it again.

I have heard that a television series is the next big Star Wars project. Is this true? Can anyone enlighten me?

Yes I must say I really enjoyed the film... it had a "darker" feel to the film, and wasnt disapointed at all, it did seem a bit long, but the action fights were brilliant.

I wont go on about it too much yet incase no one has seen it and dont want to spoil things.... although we can all guess what happens.

I just wish Someone had the guts to have gone up to George Lucas and told him to stick with just doing the special effects and told him to let someone else write the dialogue. Sorry George i was at screen 6, 7.30pm showing at the UGC 23rd May 2005 and i was cringing how awful the dialogue was:gag: and how come the Droid Army now have stupid cartoon voices omg they were irritating.

I'm a Star Wars fan but i couldn't wait for the film to end...The special effects are what you expect out of this world pardon the pun :P but the dialogue dreadful.

Why did General Grievous have a cold?

Near the end Padme Amidala says " I can't take this anymore" too true love all of us in row M was thinking the same.:hihi:

How Darth Vader became how he was  that was good until the last moment when he talked and punch his hands in the air...why or why couldn't it have ended with Rise, Lord Vader.

;) Just hope the TV series will be better written hint hint Mr Lucas :heyhey:

I agree that Mr Lucas's strengths lie more in special effects rather than dialouge, but I feel as if the 1st two episodes were so swamped in spec-effect that they felt like cartoons rather than proper movies.

In this one, the CGI seemed more to compliment a good story rather than be the story.

Darth Sidious is NOT responsible for Anakin's conception. He does hint at this in Revenge of the Sith but it is not true. Lucas has stated himself that Anakin is an immaculate conception. Sidious hints but it is just to slowly temp Anakin even further.

The TV series has been confirmed no idea as to when it'll start but Lucas says it will not feature any main characters and will be about the Rebel Alliance forming and developing over the 20 years between films.

I am a massive fan of the films and the books but the jury remains out on the TV series, I'll just have to wait and see. I couldn't bare it if Star Wars went the way of Star Trek with loads of substandard spinoffs!

He didn't! He is a cyborg who had his chest plate crushed by Mace Windu in the Clone Wars cartoons, he still has some of his own organs, heart lungs and 'gutsack' (lol) so when Mace crushed his chest plate he damaged said organs hence the cough.

Lucas always said he wanted Grievous' character to be a traditional mustacheiod (sp?) villian which i think came across really well. I can see how the coughing would be annoying to somebody who doesn't know the back story tho!

Cant defend the bad dialogue really but if you insist on me trying here is my response......

How is the dialogue any worse than the other 5 films? They all have awful dialogue but that is part of what makes them fun! Its not about dialogue its about having fun and exercising that little thing some people seem to lack called an imagination! ;)

Do a search on the net for all the mistakes in the film so many to choose from.

Obi-Wan and Yoda review "security recordings" in the Jedi Temple, which show Anakin rising before his new Sith master. Except that exchange didn't happen in the Jedi Temple, it happened in Palapatine's office, and the dialogue was different. Palpatine was never in the Jedi Temple at any point after Anakin swore allegiance to him, though.

Plot holes: When Obi-Wan and Yoda are in the Jedi Temple during the special session of congress resetting the message that is going out to the Jedi, Obi-Wan refers to the Chancellor as "The Emperor". He wouldn't have known that he is now the Emperor as that announcement is happening at the same time.

I guess the film was aimed at the new generation of Star War fans.

Just glad they cut the young Hans solo part

The security recording is just that! a security recording the different dialogue is because it is not from palpatine's office but security footage from the temple, where palpatine arrived after Anakin had done his dirty work.

Ok..I had nothing better to do so I thought I would respond in timely manner.

1. Ok..forgetting one droid is maybe forgivable..but 2. One shiny, camp, gold thing and one over-excitable one with 3 legs???, made even worse by the fact Obi-Wan is a feckin Jedi knight.

2.The point is obviously the jet engine rocket jobbies are great to have but these films are based before New Hope etc where R2 has no rocket engines which would have come in mighty handy on many occasion.

3. Apparantly Grevious has a fight with Mace Windu in some other DVD rip-off I need to buy to be aware of the whole complete story..thats why it didn't make sense. Still a poor enemy

4. Fair enough...it is a kiddies film I guess.

5. Quite clearly a fan pleaser.

6. If I ever end up in a galaxy far far away with spaceships and laser weapons, constructing a droid would I imagine be a piece of p*ss.

I guess in conclusion I expected more for the time and money supposedly invested by Lucas and his cronies when all I got was a cartoon and robots muttering Roger Roger and some seperatist leaders that sound like the waiter at my local curry house.

There's some scary bits in it, that's why it was rated 12A.. Meaning it's really for 12 and over but under 12s can go if accompanied by an adult.

But IMO movie certification is a little old fashioned to be honest, like in the 80s they gave Gremlins a 15 certificate, I saw it on video when I was 8 and it didn't scare me a bit, it was more funny than scary if anything.
