If anyone has any interesting old cine film of South Yorkshire paricularly, Sheffield , I'm engaged in a collaboration with the Yorkshire Film Archive and BBC Radio Sheffield to save and preserve it and if sufficiently interesting, to show it to a wider audience. This is part of a new outreach project we're calling 'Region on Film'. We'd love to uncover footage like Claude Friese-Green's, currently on the Open Road on BBC Two - did you see it? He went around the country, from to Lands Ends to John O Groats in an open top automobile shooting colour film and they've restored it.
I know this is unlikely. although we have recently come across footage of the 1936 Peace Marches in Sheffield and some fascinating film from the '40's of a Midland Motor Club Rally near Bamford. We also have uncovered footage of trams and trains and the Flying Scotsman in Sheffield from the '60's. We have a team of volunteers ready and willing to collect and view the film and this is a wholly not-for profit venture to try and do exactly what's been done with friese green's film. 8mm Standard or Super 8 or 16mm is fine or anything else you have.
Call 0114 267 5444 if you can help.
Cheers
