Hi,

I have a great recipe I use for a meatball Pasta sauce.

I would like to use it with a pasta bake too, only I don't know how to go about baking dried Pasta. Does anyone know?

Can it go in dry if the sauce covers it?
Do you need to soften it first?
Do you need to cook it through first?

In hope of help,

Macca

It can go in dry but make sure you have enough sauce to cover it.

I really would recommend cooking it first. Al Dente should work a treat. Enjoy and let us know the result AND give us the recipe !

I've used two of those pasta bake things one with dried pasta and one with half boiled pasta, mainly because the first one came out still crunchy in places where there was not enough sauce. But that could be down to my boobar cooking skills

If you top the pasta bake up with water it'll be fine

Im just having some pasta bake now....Id recommend boiling the pasta first then bake it in the oven, sometimes if you put dry pasta in..like honeyplanet said you can have the dry crunchy bits on the top.

Hope you have a nice meal :)

Thanks for the tips guys.

I must confess the recipe is shamefully lazy....

Ingredients

One Pack Sainsbury's Taste the Difference Sicillan(sp!) Sausages
Two tins Chopped Tomatoes
One Red Onion
2 cloves of garlic (more for vamps!)
Olive Oil
Mozerella Cheese
Seasoning to taste (Basil, Italian seasoning, Orange rind, salt pepper)

Prep

Finley dice the onion
prepare the Garlic
Squeze the sausage meat out of its skins, seperating it into small meatballs

Cooking

Soften the Onion and Garlic in a little Olive Oil
Add the Meatballs, and allow them to seal
Add the tomoatoes and bring to a simmer
Allow to cook for about five minutes
Season to taste

Serve with Pasta, and the Mozerella as a topping.

I fancy doing it as a bake, with a white sauce, some breadcrumbs and Parmesan.

100s of good Lasagne recipes,But start with your meat sauce flavor to suit (lots of tomato paste) and start laying Lasagne, sauce and cottage cheese and then repeat, finish with lots of tomato paste and top with Mozzarella, cover & bake.A pkt of frozen spinage?with egg beat into cottage cheese also tastes great. Most important get bottle of red wine and invite me over
