I use Media Monkey, Winamp tends to be too processor/graphic intensive.

Ooh! Just found a media player that accepts winamp pluging, but isn't winamp!

Some useful music tools/players - all freeware (http://sparsely.net/music/tools.html)

Winamp 5 here, I dont have any problems with it being too processor intensive, currently its using 0% of my CPU threads

It does seem to be a bit CPU hungry now you come to mention it...

Winamp has some good features, but I really don't see anything wrong with WMP.

What processors do you lot have?!?

Im running a crappy P4 1.4Ghz here and I never see it go over 1%!

Yeah, but Pentium 4s have Hyper Thread. I've got a crappy Celeron 2.3GHz.

qcd -quintessential player - takes winamp dsp plugins, plays all formats natively, fast, well coded, well behaved, UI si a bit ugly but skins are available.

I use the new Winamp 5 sometimes, mostly for mpegs and video files, otherwise its Winamp 2 with the Aiwa NSX F959v5 skin.

I use MusicMatch Jukebox for mp3 conversions.

winamp, as long as visual plugins are disabled then cpu usage is negligable.

1.4 Ghz P4's do not have hyperthreading.

You are not the only one. I was using xmms but recently switched to noatun. Quality is as good and as a native kde app it just looks, imho, better than xmms. I think I am beginning to dislike skins - I would rather an app look part of the desktop environment instead of jumping out and shouting "look at me, look at me!".

That's one of my quibbles with Mozilla as well but I still prefer it to Konqueor.

Have to confess I use iTunes. It is very processor heavy, but nothing else I've used comes close when you've got a big MP3 library.

WinAMP v2.81 with the XPAmp v1.1 skin.

It's small, fast, and plays mp3 and wma files...what more does anyone need?

Winamp 5 here, using the MMD3 skin. And running on an Athlon 2400XP, CPU usage never goes above 1%.
