For my money its arguably the worst place in Sheffield.

Broomhall aint so clever but at least its surrounded by nicer (if studenty) areas.

My advice would be avoid Tinsley like the plague

Apart from meadowhall it is a dump.

For buying a house it would have its plus points, but for renting you'd be best of somewhere much nicer for hardly any more money

i rent in tinsley and so far have found it a really nice place!its always quiet, im on lifford street which is just off dundas, so must be similar! houses are nice and its close to meadowhall and tram! Plus its only £7 for taxi to town, good considering how many miles it is!

dont let other ppl put you off, its a decent enough place! :)

hi all, we used to live in Tinsley, we actually rent weenirenni their house, and after owning the house for nearly 4 years we have no major problems. Many people say it's a dump but there is a lot of regeneration going on on tinsley green. These people have never lived there so have no idea, and asume that because its a highly cultural area that it must be rough and nobody will want to live there.

yes it cheap but the houses are really well made. The gardens are long and can be made to look very nice.

Dundas Road is one of the more busier roads, but its still nice

I'm sure you'll like it.

Is Tinsley a good area? No. It's one of the most polluted places in Britain thanks to the Tinsley viaduct, has a higher than average crime rate and has burnt out derelict buildings. It's also an extremely "culturally diverse" (read: white-no-go) area, which you may or may not like. On the plus side, if you like shopping, it's close to Meadowhell.

Wasn't that the reason why the Co-Op in Tinsley closed down troubled cause by
culturally diverse people

obviously someone else who has not lived there, or maybe even visited?? There are only a few derelic buildings, but most areas have a few like this. Yes it does have a high crime rate, but as mentioned before in the 4 years of owning a home in this area we have never heard of anyone stealing any cars, garden equipment or anything for that matter. The streets are fairly quiet except for children and the odd car going a bit fast, but other than that its nice.

Pollution is bad, but nothing too serious, if you live anywhere around sheffield pollution is fairly high. Please try and listen to the people who have lived or live here to gain an acurate picture. And remember if you're renting, if you don't like it, leave.

So other than the highest pollution in the UK, derelict buildings, a massage parlour and a high crime rate, Tinsley is a "nice" and "good" area. Well, I suppose different people have different opinions as to what constitutes nice..

Generaly around Ferrars Rd is a dump and would avoid that side at all costs but there is a better side to Tinsley.
Turn left at the pub on Bawtry Rd, there is a church yard and that part is quite nice.
I can't remember the names of the roads and to be honest I can't be bothered mucking them up but Dundas rings a bell and if its where I think it is then its OK there.

my friend lived on that exact street and ended up getting his house invaded by a group of youths while he was at work and his little 14 year old brother was there who got his head flushed down the toilet and basically abused while they robbed the house!

STAY WELL AWAY!- tis a horrible area that the police have no control over!

As most people have said - STAY AWAY FROM TINSLEY !!!!!!!!!!

Its the pits. Nice if you dont live there just rent properties to idiots, refugees, drug dealers and scum bags. I've lived in Tinsley most of my life and have to say it has gone to the dogs over the last 30 years.

The pakistanis have made it into a kind of council dump and if you have a house or shop they want they will get it by harrassing you.

The new park development is fine but dont go on there in the afternoons or you will be seen off and be called a white, black or yellow ****ard or beaten up by the gangs of pakistani youths that hang around with nothing better to do.

Im on my way out of Tinsley and the sooner the better.

Tinsley used to be handy to go and see the only Type 13 engine in existence. It was in the big sidings bit.

Is it still there?
