I just thought I would reccomend leisureways in Rotherham as being a good motorfactors to go to if you are in need of any parts or accessories. They also have a machine shop as well. :thumbsup:

Where abouts are these people ? can they get hold of Rover bits ?

It is where we go for all our Maestro and newer Rover parts, very good especially if you aren't to fussed about getting genuine items from Rover. Dan (the other half) has always found them very helpful, and if it isn't on the shelf out back it is normally ordered in for the afternoon, or next day.

Just had a look at their website and they actually list parts available for Metro Turbo, woo hoo :) I've noticed over the last few years a lot of places were no longer stocking bits like filters, plugs, water pumps etc for my turbo. Thanks for recommending.

metro parts the same here ignition points plus condensers are getting like gold dust to find but i go to imported motor factors . postcode {S37EQ} they will get a part 4 you if its not in stock all pattern parts :thumbsup:

Younger people think a choke is when you grab someone around the neck and have never come across one fitted in a car. Learned to drive in a metro with a choke, my turbo metro has a choke, but my GTI metro was my first car that didn't have a choke.

Agree wholeheartedly with Bratwurst, for such a small place their stockroom must be like the Tardis. Shame the lad with red hair left, he was an encylopedia of all things classic.

Use them myself...convenient for me on a Suinday morning.

Only once had a part wrong through their error though...sometimes the books aren't always clear. Had 3 attempts at a dizzy cap & rotor for a car from Shaws and from Sheffield Imported before we could get the right one.

Both Shaws and SIMF were as helpful as they could be, consulting all their manufacturer's catalogues for options.

No problems with either...except like most, they don't do parts for my car "off the shelf" any more so I use a specialist on eBay for things other than components shared with other newer vehicles (plugs, leads, oil filters etc)

Try Autorads on Attercliffe Road, they do all body panels,lighting, and radiators,Air con and they recore Classic radiators.

Another vote for Sheffield Imported always used them for all my spares and prices and service are excellent. I've moved out to Eckington now and use Mosborough Motor Spares, again very friendly although prices are huigher i've found but thats probabbly due to the size of the shop and them not shifting the quantities SI do.

Greens in Swallownest/Aughton also gets a thumbs up.

Alan Kay Components in Handsworth are good and very cheap.
i have never found anything they cant get in by next day and i drive an old capri.

For German, Swedish or French try GSF they are very knowlegeable & keenly priced. Had parts for VW & Seat off them very good.

Or at a push Eurocarparts but i've been supplied with a few wrong parts there. However to give them credit, it was parts for a VW & they have a habit of changing specifications / parts all the time on the same models. Eg different calipers with different pads etc.

Sheffield Imported are very good.

Lesuireways are great for consumables. Have they got the best range of engine & gearbox / diff oils going or what?

hoyland motor spares is really good. Really helpful guy and if he doesn't stock it, he can usually get it in next day or even same day

DMS (Dronfield Motor Spares) on Callywhite Lane in Dronfield is really good - they regularly get me Cortina bits within 24 hours of asking. Sometimes same day.

I would *avoid* Euro Car Parts. I've been supplied with the wrong things and things that break after two weeks more than once, not impressed at all with the service or quality.
