WOW!! 27,000 - wooowiiieeeeeee, and all to watch that lot.

You're right, your attendances are mightily impressive.

Shame about everything else though.

It's an unlikely scenario but you never know. The Blades make Europe in five years' time, are buying the best players in the world on mad salaries and are challenging for both domestic cups and league title.

Meanwhile, Wendyites are absolutely in a stupor at the tremendous turn-out at the match against Grays Athletic (which they drew 0-0: See page 5 for details of open-top bus ride through town to celebrate. Sturrock himself says he'll wear a tutu if they beat Nuneaton Borough next week) and the fact that they now owe the Co-Operative Bank only £90,000,000.

Oh, and their dads tell them they won a derby match some time back when the Nolans were in the charts, some footage of which is to be shown in next week's final episode of The Lost World Of Freise-Greene.

Getting my first of what, I reckon will be many Premiership season tickets on Saturday morning. Canna wait man.

By that I mean we'll be in the premier league a long time, not that I'm buying loads of season tickets. That'd just be daft.

Been saving up for it since we beat Southampton away. That's when, for some unknown reason, I started to beleive.

Never been able to afford one before.

Sounds daft cuz I go to every home game without fail so end up spending more anyway.

I've timed it just right this year.

I dont wanna get too deep here because I don't know enough about football but I support the Blades as it's a family thing.

Well done to them even if it is only for a year, what a year it's going to be for the fans, Sheffield and even the Premiership.I think Warnock will bring some quality entertainment to the league.

What is it with the Wednesday fans, you make your selves look a right bunch of loser chumps.
If I was a Wednesday fan I'd keep my mouth shut about Utd, keep my head down and just concentrate on Wednesday.
Helping them back into the Premiership where I could then mouth off about the Blades.

You just come across as a load of sad a bitter rejects, you nearly went down for petes sake and Utd are in one of the top leagues in the world.
Not to mention you lost both times this season, it's all about what's happening NOW!

Oh and if I hear about Boxing day one more time!!!!!!!

Syko i think you made a good decision...it could be sold out for home supporters......I think united only have room for about 24,000 ... as i said before Barnsley sold out....no pay at all so united should do the same.

Well said Modesty totally agree,we are in the top flight next season & all of Sheffield should be proud of the achievment's at the Lane, for years we have had nothing & due to the United Board & having a manager for 6 years helped stabalise the club & it has paid off.I hope the Owls get to the Premiership as it would be great for Sheffield.UP THE MIGHTIER PREMIERSHIP BLADES

The corner is being built at the moment which will take the capacity up to 33,000.

So in theory there should be 27,000 for us i reckon.

I think our away end hold about 6,000. I may be wrong though.

Waffer

Yes but isnt the corner stand for away supporters.....so home fans stay at a capacity of about 24.000.........

scottf
27-04-2006, 15:14
no, our chairman has just announced this morning that we are going to limit away fans to 3-5000- therefore leaving more seats available for blades supporters.

Presume Wendy are going to change their colours to green and white, after all that's the colour of jealousy isn't it?

Admit it, you're just pig (no pun intended) sick that United are now the No.1 team not only in Sheffield but Yorkshire.

Learn to live with it because next season it's going to get a whole lot worse for you when the annual relegation struggle sets in.

How many times . . . . United will struggle but most likely survive (much to their credit) and Wednesday will quite probably flatter to deceive but ultimatley make a run on the playoffs and most probably miss out (this season) by a few points and a couple of places . . . . can we finish the bitching here ???

As an Owl who well remembers Wednesday's third place on their last promotion to the top division I will make these observations on United's chances of survival.

They are unlucky in that the three weakest sides in the premiership have been relegated this season, they could have done with a last minute WBA survival. Reading could do a Sunderland and the winner of the play off final could also be a contender.

The only way is to forget survival and go for every point, that's what Wigan did and they were given no chance at the start of the season. Savour every minute of it be it for one season or for more, it's the only division to play in.

tosh13

It's alway's the 3 weakest teams that go down, that's why they get relegated.Sunderland went down because McCarth's transfer buy's were rubbish,Warnock know's where we need strengthening & he will deal with it,Wigan had the same team in the Championship apart from Chimbonda. It is all about confidence, you can have the best team in the world without confidence & the right players you are doomed.I know we will do well in the top flight as I am confident.UP THE MIGHTY PREMIERE LEAGUE BLADES

It will be really difficult this season for united unless they flog some of there players, and bring in new experienced pedigree, premiership quality! Lets face it United dont have nobody in there ranks who has played top level football. Can only recall Unsworth but he's passed it) Wigan were in a similar possition, but they strengthened there squad with the likes of chimbonda, de zeuw, scharna, camara etc and built them into an already strong and athletic squad. United will need to hope that the likes of jagielka, webber, and tongue etc can show they can step up a level otherwise I think United will be doomed!!

Last year it was decided on the very last day, in my opinion WBA were no stronger than the 3 that went down.

Knowing and it actually happening are two different things, the important thing is that you are there to try and make it happen.

To be successful in his first season in the prem Warnock needs to do only 2 things.

Listen to Paul Jewell/Alan Pardew and then copy what they did as near as possible.

tosh13
04-05-2006, 12:18
Let's not forget Warnock has been a manager a hell of a lot longer than Jewell & Pardew put together & 1 season does not make a great manager look at Ipswich. The fact is the season has just finished let's see who Warnock get's in before claiming we are doomed before we have kicked off,as for the Owls supporters I do not opinionate on there team for next year, only that I hope they do well. It's easy to think we will go down like Sunderland ,but we have a better squad than they had & we will be bringing in better players Warnock & McCabe have already stated this.

I was refering to 1st season success only, ie staying up, and in that respect both Jewell and Pardew have had had great success.

Also, Warnock only has as much top flight experience as Pardew (1 season) and has less than Jewell who has had 3 seasons in total (2 with Bradford, 1 with Wigan?)

I think that if we can stay up next season we're gonna stay up for a long time.

I personally think we will and I hope that we can do it in style too. However I would be happy to finish 4th from bottom.

to be fair the blades have been so close, yet so far in recent history - hope they do a good job in the prem, but heard someone banging on about getting to europe within two seasons....had to have a giggle at that!!! There are teams which are really establishing themselves at european candidates - bolton, west ham, wigan(??), blackburn, which will take the blades apart.

Next season is all about the upset i think for the blades, then they can start establishing themselves....just dont do a black cat and end up with 11 points at the end of the season....wouldnt be the greatest thing for sheffields image!

think wednesday need to sort themselves out...they are the villa of the championship and arent really doing much except clinging onto survival!!!
