I'm sure there's another thread on problems with BT somewhere, but apparently 'BT' is too short a search term, so I'm damned if I can find it!

Anyway, past few months I've been charged for one 'call return fee' on each of my monthly bills. I have NEVER used this service. If I call someone and they're engaged I just call back later. I am a very light user of the phone anyway, and I rarely get an engaged tone even when I do call someone. In addition the calls they've charged me for are made when I am at work - and no one else lives in or has access to my house - so it is simply not possible that these calls have been made.

Anyway, I didn't do any thing about it until last month, cos it was only 7p on each bill, but when it just went on and on I decided I had to tell BT out of principal. So I called them last month and they credited it. I've just got my new bill and there's another one on there, so I called again. At first he was saying they'd credit it and asked if I wanted that service barred, which I agreed to as I never use it. But when he saw I'd contacted them about this last month he started to get quite rude and patronising about it. He put me on hold and spoke to his manager and then came back and effectively said that I was lying, insinutating that I must have made these calls because their system is hardly ever wrong, and the fact that I have had a call credited in the past, and let previous charges for this service go by goes against me.

I asked exactly how I could make the said call when at that time I was at work, and can prove I was at work, but he just kept lecturing how if I query it again they will test the line but he was sure the line was fine and I would not have anything else credited again!!

Arrggh - I'm so angry about it. I hate being called a liar when I am NOT! I just said they should bar the service so that if it appears again I can prove they've made an error, and they will credit me, especially if I can prove I was elsewhere at the time, and then I hung up.

Sorry - just needed to rant  :D Anyone else had similar problems?

I congratulate you on being able to read your BT Bill......it's a brainstorming session every time.

And it's the same with the Powergen Combined Electricity and Gas Bill through "Age Concern"......I gave up sometime ago...........

Mine is relatively simple because I don't have my calls through them, just the line rental - which is why it stands out a mile when that's the ONLY call listed, and is probably why I didn't really notice it too much before because that was when I did have my calls with them. Now gas and electric bills are a different story...like rocket science those ones...

Few years back my sister-in-law questioned her electric bill as in small print it stated you get a certain percentage back paying on time for a year, well something like that, there reply was. Oh! you're getting it back, it's figured in with your bill, showing them her bil, Explain to me where it is then ! their answer was, if we showed you you wouldn't understand it anyhow ! well they said that to the wrong person, it's a long story so won't go into detail.

After a few months of driving every one at the Elc company mad, she went to the Mayor, then the newspapers, one paper investigated.... after 6 months 6 top employees lost their jobs, they had been ripping their customers off for years, spending money on travel, having lights installed in their own homes.. anyhow, even the Readers Digest picked up the story.

Won't bore you with the rest, but just don't let anyone tell you "You wouldn't understand your bill if i explained it to you anyhow" my sister-in-laws answer to that was "give me a chance'' I'll listen ! She did, they didn't!
