does anyone know anything about the building to the rear of 91 spital hill? i.e. past owners/ uses, why it was burnt and when? etc..

Where is the building you're asking about, is it near a shop, residential building or what?

I ask this as I find it hard to read door numbers sometimes when travelling.

In the Kellys directory for 1927 the building housed a lot of small company.s inc Bunker and Pratley.s tv and electrical works. 1961.

The building there used to house the offices of the housing association that owns my home. (I am talking 20 odd yrs ago)

Thanks for the info. I'm mainly interested in the part of the building at the rear though, which is considered seperate from 91 itself. It's derelict at the moment but I know it is listed and was damaged by fire in around 1992/95. Does anyone know about the fire that happened? Or why it is listed. I know the tunnel 'fiery jack' goes underneath.

Well spotted,
J Sorby were listed at 93 Spital Hill in 1876 no 91 is listed maybe the building is listed due to its link with Sheffield,s manufacturing history plus an intresting frontage.

I've found out it was also Kersley and Sons Ltd (upholsterers) anyone know anything about them?

I believe the Building was once a Hospital hence the name Spital hill & Spital St.
