Apologies if this has been done before, souldnt find it, so just merge if so. What are the songs that remind you of special occasions (or would you like to have for future special occasions)?
First song you loved: Karma Chameleon by Culture Club. I knew all the words, and I LOVED Boy George, and yes,my parents did tell me he was a boy...
Song that reminds you of primary school: Got to Be Certain by Kylie - dancing in the playground to this, using the Gimme Some routine, and I Want You Back by Bananarama which is forever etched in my mind asthe dountrack to a rainy day at the humber bridge country park on a school trip to watch the milk race.
Song for teenage angst: Smashing Pumpkins - Bullet With Butterfly Wings
Song for falling in love: Dina Carroll - The Perfect Year... not so much love as teenage yearnings though!
Song for heartbreak: Roxette - Crash Boom Bang
Soundtrack to a great holiday: The B52s - Roam - this was one of the tunes from a great summer in Hastings in 1990, but oculd be the perfect soundtrack to any summer holiday ever
Soundtrack to a great birthday: Cornershop - Brimful of Asha and Catatonia - Mulder and Scully. My 18th. Still the best birthday ever.
Song to get ready for going out: My Life Story - Suited and Booted. Of course.
Song to dance to: Abba - Gimme Gimme Gimme. When we turned 18, there was a big 70s revivial going on so it was Abba at every party but this is way better than Dancing Queen.
Song to chill you out: Beth Orton - Touch me With Your Love (or the whole Trailer Park album really)
Song you would do a cover version of: Fuzzbox - Hollow Girl. It's so beautiful and melancholy and would benefit from sweeping strings and a gorgeous vocal (not mine though)....
Song for your first dance at a wedding: Not intending to marry any time soon but maybe Boy Meets Girl - Waiting For a Star to Fall, just cos I love it and haven't fitted it in anywhere else!
Song for your funeral: GOing in to I Am the Mob by Catatonia ('I put horses heads in people's beds' is the opening line ) and out to Listen to Your Heart by Roxette for maximum sob effect.
Song for Room 101 Wings - Mull of Kintyre. It's awful and we had to play it all the time in Youth Orchestra which doesn't help my appreciation of it. Burn!!!!!
Song to convert people to: Sebadoh - Beauty of the Ride - Not totally well known, but totally amazing and always always makes me smile. A short, fast blast of joy.
