my auntie has lived at lowedges for many years and I wouldn't say it was the most desirable places to live, but then I suppose there are worse places to live

It varies wildly - there are some nice bits of lowedges and some really grotty bits! I know thats not very helpfull but I'm afraid it holds pretty true for most areas in Sheffield!

I live at gleadless valley, the lower end nearer heeley , it's really quiet down here so i am hoping for the same at lowedges, i've tried bidding but without much luck as i only have 6 years on the waiting list which are the bits of lowedges which are thought to be the better bits ?

Frankly it's pretty grotty, if it's quiet where you are you'd need a very good reason to move. I'd go and have a walk around it and see what you think but it's not got much going for it.

Really does depend on where ur looking at.

I currently live on Gresley and am hoping to move to Basegreen, not because it's manky, but cos it's nearer my family.

You really want to stay away from Atlantic if poss <not trying to offend anyone here!> and some parts of Lupton Road <the higher numbers I think>, also Becket's not brilliant, my friend lived on there and she had some trouble.

Try going at different times of the day / night and see how many chavs are knocking about.

Good luck!!

Don't do it!

I have lived at Low Edges for 30 years, at the 'better end' near the bus terminus. While it isn't exactly the pleasantest of areas, I can assure you that it is heavenly compared to the area around Toppham Road, Lowedges Crescent/Drive, Lupton Drive/Crescent.

The best way to check out this area is to drive around and park up in the evenings for long periods to observe the nefarious activities which take place. It would not be advisable to leave the car & walk around as many of the people who inhabit this area would nick your gold fillings should you be so unfortunate as to smile for too long.

There is a looney bin with an alchohol license nearby, known as 'The Magpie', which is generally populated by the sort of imbecile who thinks that an ASBO is the 'working class' equivalent of an OBE. :loopy:

IN SHORT; If you can move to somewhere else, Dodge City comes to mind, then I strongly advise you to consider your options. If you are really determined to move to Low Edges, I recommend that you stock up on Mace spray and be prepared to use it, because that is the only language that the scum round here are mentally equipped to understand.

I had a drive round on Saturday and i saw some lads with an off road bike taking it inside a house, ! i also saw a large group of older teens to twenty somethings hanging outside the maisonettes on Lupton Drive, i have to say , i am going off the area, it all looks nice till you start looking that bit closer, the reason i wanted a move up to Lowedges was because my ex partner lives on Lupton road and it seemed practical for me to be closer so he can have our daugher , while i'm at work, i must say i'm having second thoughts now !
i must thank everyone who have taken the time to reply , it's been a real help very informative and much appreciated.

i have lived on lowedges all my life.whilst i can say its not the best of areas there are alot worse.i live on becket near the terminus and we never have no trouble round where i live.yes kids do knock about on the shops at night and get drunk at weekends but isnt that what most kids do.i never feel intimidated by them when i go to the shops and i dont mind walking round the estate late at night.the cresent used to be one of the nicest palces to live but has gone downhill over the years with idiots being put tin the flats and bedsits.i dont mind living on here the schools arnt bad and there are plenty of local shops to choose from and if you havnt got a car the buses are ver regular.
