Hi,
I have a large velux window in my attic room. The window is in desperate need of a good clean. This can only be done (by myself at least) from the inside of my room. If I were to fully open the window and rotate it, does it lock into place for cleaning purposes? I am a little apprehensive as the window is very heavy and I don't want to end up with it jammed open!
Go for it! I use one of those pole things that you polish wooden floors with, and wrap a Windowlene cloth round the end of it. Don't get too rough with it though or you'll have to retrieve the bits of the pole out of your gutters!
Unless you have a different model to mine, then they don't lock open for cleaning, but they're really quite easy to rotate. You may well find that a spare person is handy, so they can keep the window stable while you clean it, but that's not strictly necessary.
Just bear in mind that if you use loads of soapy water, you can end up with it dumped on your floor if you get the angle of the window not quite right. Much better to use stuff that won't drip on the floor when you turn the window over.
Climb out onto the slates and hang on or try training the pigeons to clean it.
Try persuading Kirky to come and do it [if you can get him away from that OTHER forum] :hihi:

Med, many thanks :) And I thought our paths only crossed in chat! The reason why my window hasn't been cleaned is because when I think about it, I realise the real faff it's going to be; as you say water on the floor etc; plus I have a million and one electrical devices that'll need shifting etc :(

Ooooooh Nimrod! You mentioned that other forum.... (the very one I got banned for indirectly mentioning)... you're on thin ice! :o
Does Kirky clean windows then?
Kirky most certainly cleans windows, his chamois is legendary[ even on the OTHER forum]. Dont know if he climbs on slates though. :hihi:
If you hang a load of clothes on the opening bar thingy, you should be able to get it to stay put. Mine's looking a bit grubby now you come to mention it....
