There's nothing better than a McKip supersized but you're Captain sleeeeeeep!! :D if you don't get enough kip then there's no chance for us mortals :P Fletch 28-04-2004, 16:36 i usually get just over 9 hours. sleep by 11pm and awake at 7:15am other tha on a Friday when im usually up till 3 or 4am then awake at 7am that hurts Cyclone 28-04-2004, 16:46 it varies. At the moment I am 'on the bench' so i'm getting about 9 or 10 hours a night. When i'm on project if i'm commuting it can be as little as 6 some nights, then 10 on the nights I stay over to try to catch up a little. I find that if I go for several nights with much less than 8 I really start to suffer. Lickszz 28-04-2004, 16:52 I average 4 hours a night. Lestat 28-04-2004, 20:46 The night is for living my friends! forget sleep - you can sleep when you die, I only need a few hours here and there - mainly during the day. scatterheart 28-04-2004, 21:05 When if I'm up for work at 5am, it can be as little as nothing thanks to my got-to-get-up-early induced insomnia  Last night I was still awake at 2:30, up for work at 5. But if I've got a lie in the next day, I can sleep as soon as my head hits the pillow and for as long as I like  t020 28-04-2004, 22:59 Originally posted by Fletch i usually get just over 9 hours. sleep by 11pm and awake at 7:15am other tha on a Friday when im usually up till 3 or 4am then awake at 7am that hurts Which would actually be just over 8 hours. Perhaps you need yet more sleep to help enhance your numeracy skills? ;) fuzzy 28-04-2004, 23:02 Originally posted by Fletch i usually get just over 9 hours. sleep by 11pm and awake at 7:15am other tha on a Friday when im usually up till 3 or 4am then awake at 7am that hurts And i think the friday thing is a bit of a fib too. Usually before 12 and then won't get up :D Andy78 28-04-2004, 23:20 varies a lot. most of the time less than 4 hours. Sometimes none. Sometimes (rarely) i'll have a night i get 12 hours sleep to make up for it. I only wish I could have a regular sleep pattern. duffman 28-04-2004, 23:29 Originally posted by sarah_81 When if I'm up for work at 5am, it can be as little as nothing thanks to my got-to-get-up-early induced insomnia  Last night I was still awake at 2:30, up for work at 5. But if I've got a lie in the next day, I can sleep as soon as my head hits the pillow and for as long as I like  Same here. I'm up for 5am but wont go to bed until at least 1am. A few years ago I could sleep 9-10 hours easily but now it's about 5-6, even on holiday or after a night out I always get up at the same time in the morning.:loopy: :loopy: Squiggs 28-04-2004, 23:36 not enough If I'm coding php and fuelled by redbull I can force myself to sleep at 2.30...just means a lot of swearing at 6.30 when the first phase of my long alarm clock...snooze..alarm clock...snooze cycle begins Bedhead 29-04-2004, 07:41 reading some of these i'm glad my sleep patterns are pretty regular! if i don't get over 7 hours i suffer the next day - or maybe it's just psychological Mosherchik 29-04-2004, 12:20 Probably getting roughly 7-8 hours, and I have been finding getting up in the morning easier now its sunny (well when it was sunny) but I get a big sleepy spell in the aft and dont perk up again until about 6/7pm :loopy: Thing is if I get too much sleep I feel even more knackered! You can actually sleep yourself tired!... Well I can! SaxonLeigh 29-04-2004, 13:22 for me it varies too. normally i go to bed between 10.45pm & 12am, i try to go to bed early but i end up talking politics with my dad (a subject i've just started getin interested it so if any one wants to PM me their oppinions on anything politcal please do). i alway get up at 8am on a work day but always feel tired for at least an hour from removing myself from my pit. i've always very much been a sleeping person & have often spent over 15 hours in bed, although now i try & get up at 10.30-11am on a weekend cus i feel like i'm wasting me life away in bed. i'm anemic & have to go to the doctors every 3months, being anemic makes you very lathargic (as does too much sleep) and every time i go to the doctor he tells me "the best time for the human body to go to bed is between 10.30pm and the best time to get out of bed is 7am as those two times are, when your body is the most tired, & when your body is the most alert & when your metobalism is at its highest". thats why if your on a diet its best to eat breakfast at 7am. Bedhead 29-04-2004, 13:44 i heard that the body is geared up to take an hour nap in the afternoon too not sure my boss would be too happy about that though  caz2 29-04-2004, 13:48 Depends on what i've been up to that night!:heyhey:  Bedhead 29-04-2004, 15:24 Originally posted by caz2 Depends on what i've been up to that night!:heyhey:  :o Chris_Sleeps 29-04-2004, 15:30 I'm usually either getting up early, or sleeping really late, so its hard to say. I get enough though, anymore and i'd feel like a waster. ------------ Originally posted by t020 Perhaps you need yet more sleep to help enhance your numeracy skills? Mistakes should be corrected, and it is not rude to do so. I'm glad we have people like you here who feel comfortable enough after 5 months to lay into someone who has been here for a year. It makes one realise how relaxed and enjoyable the forum must be. *Twinkle* 29-04-2004, 18:06 I get just over 8 hours on a school night.... The weekend is no different, as I have to get up for my bf coming over and also for my driving lesson.... I hate staying in bed too long as I feel I'm wasting my life and usually have something productive I should be doing... Its lazy to stay in bed too long... I always criticise people who do it so I'd better set a good example and get up at a reasonable hour!!!! I guess if I had nothing going off in my life, I'm be a lazy bum and sleep my life away but that isnt happening and never will happen! RPG 29-04-2004, 18:16 I get about 6 hours sleep most nights, apart from weekends where I lag in bed most of the morning (and often into the afternoons lol) Basically, I dont like going to bed, nor do i like getting up noseyrosie 29-04-2004, 18:34 Oh for a good night's sleep! It being exam period, I'm in bed at 1.30 and wake up at 6.30!!! Not enough sleep basically! I only just fit into that 5-7 category. Sigh. Actually I need a lot of sleep, at weekends I don't wake up till midday at least. problem is I'm a night owl, and getting up early is just a necessity, if I ever manage to get to sleep earlier than 12 I feel even tireder the next day! Weird... Ned Ludd 29-04-2004, 20:29 i don't get enough usually just a few hours a night Memphis Bell 29-04-2004, 20:34 well i for one know i won't be getting any sleep tonight. i have an assignment to hand in tomorrow and i aint even half way through it yet!!so i am gonna have to work through the night:cry: but rest assured that when i have handed it in i will come home have a nice little snooze and then go out on the razzle later. :partyhat: :D It is my last ever day of uni tomorrow - woo hoo!! Anyway - i don't usually get to bed until after 2am and have to get up at about 7ish, silly really i need lots of beauty sleep too so you can imagine what i look like at the moment! mr craig 29-04-2004, 21:14 I usually get between 5-6 hours per night, but that includes weekends as well. Even if i go to bed at 5 a.m after a night out i'll still be awake at 10 ish, which kinda sucks. Clik32 29-04-2004, 21:26 I don't get much at all. Go to bed about 11pm and up at half 5 (for an 8am shift) and 6am for a 9am shift. I sleep for the same hours on a Friday night, usually up about 7, same for Saturday and then on the Sunday I always want to sleep later, but have to get up for work!! It's just a viscious circle!! BrainThrust 30-04-2004, 00:51 I tend to get 2-4 hours of sleep two or three times a week but i make up for it by sleeping for 12 hours most ngihts at weekends. And yes, i do love to nap in the late afternoons, just for an hour, even if i do wake up with half my hair going wild and me feeling cranky. Wilf Bedhead 30-04-2004, 07:33 Originally posted by Chloe I don't get much at all. Go to bed about 11pm and up at half 5 (for an 8am shift) and 6am for a 9am shift. It's just a viscious circle!! why do you allow three hours between getting up and work?! a lot of people allow time but i try to get up as late as i can! have to get up at 7am which kinda sucks considering i don't get back home from work till after 6pm :( Bedhead 30-04-2004, 07:36 really surprises me that people can function after less than 5 hours sleep on averge per night - almost 1 in 5 appear to be able to do that judging from the poll!! i wish i could do that, could fit so much more into a day Andy78 30-04-2004, 08:37 In the case of last night, no sleep whatsoever. i love the end of term at uni, when i have an obscene ammount of work. got a presentation to do in 20 mins as well. woohoo! Bedhead 30-04-2004, 08:44 yea i was at the republic last night and feel rooooof as foooook now :( karandak 30-04-2004, 22:52 On week days i tend to be in bed by 12.30am, be asleep by 1-1.30 depending if im watchin anything. Then im up 6.30/6.45 for work seen as have to set off at 7.30. Only time i generally get less on work days is if ive been out on the sunday or the thursday, tend to get about 3/4 hrs if i have! Seem to be able to function perfectly fine, which amazes my work friends hehe, managed on 90mins sleep one friday! :) At weekends, i generally get about 10 hrs a night, unless ive been out drinking, cos that never helps me sleep for very long! grrr, i like my huge bed, and laying in it, but i try not to stay there overly long as like other people have said, feels like you're wasting valuable time, especially when i work 40 hrs a week! SpiderPete 07-11-2005, 20:49 I get about 7 hrs sleep a night, but when the alarm goes off in the morning, I always put it forward 20 mins, and then another 15 mins. I sleep better when I have been out drinking, I fall off straight away, but since I am cutting down on drinking I wont get the "straight off" sleeps now :( Grissom 07-11-2005, 20:58 Around 5 hours usually; often wake up at 03.30 even though alarm set for 05.00 - not idea why though  dieselbabe 07-11-2005, 21:17 Less then 5hrs for me,I get more tired if i do have more sleep,i always have done,my friends can not belive how lively iam on so less sleep. absynthfairy 07-11-2005, 21:46 Generally in bed by 11ish on a school night... but my boyf has tinnitus so we ave to have the telly on to help him drown out the ringing so sometime i don't drift off till half 11, 12ish - alarm is set for 6.50 and I have to be up by 7.13 or I'd never make staff briefing at 8.20! I have a nap in the afternoon after school on the days I'm not doing private tuition after school and it's an absolute scheduled must on a friday or I'd never last the night... I sleep til 9ish at the weekend and appreciate it! School hols are an issue where i stay up later and sleep later... generally have a week of nytol when i go back to school to sort myself out! STRAF 08-11-2005, 00:32 any more than 5 hours and i get head ake and fell **** :suspect: same at weekends Hels 08-11-2005, 01:23 Sounds like i'm the only sleepy-head on here! I have a very irregular sleep pattern, so an average day can go something like this: 3am go to bed 4am get to sleep 7am wake up and go straight back to sleep 1pm wake up then doze 1.30pm get up 8pm go to bed for a nap 9.30pm get up or 9.30pm go to bed 4am wake up, feed the cat 4.15am back to bed 12.30pm get up 6pm go to bed 10pm get up 4am go to bed I used to be ok with an average of 6-7 hours sleep a night. These days I can't cope with less than 12. If I have less sleep one day (say only 8-10 hours) the following day i'll usually have 15-16 hours to catch up. Deavon 08-11-2005, 01:27 Originally posted by Hels ...These days I can't cope with less than 12. Incubate eggs??? youwhatref 08-11-2005, 05:48 Originally posted by duffman Same here. I'm up for 5am but wont go to bed until at least 1am. A few years ago I could sleep 9-10 hours easily but now it's about 5-6, even on holiday or after a night out I always get up at the same time in the morning.:loopy: :loopy: I think it's an age thing. When i was younger (teens/early twenty) i could easily sleep for 10 hours and would want at least 8 hours. Now i'm down to 5 to 7 at best and can easily cope with it. A little baby makes a big difference though! GimmeSomePK 08-11-2005, 06:08 I can manage on around 4 hours but because of the hours i work (i don't get up and go straight to work like most people) i generally sleep for as long as i need which seems to be around 5-7 hours. I think we just aren't meant to get up early. Doesn't matter what time you go to bed or how many hours you've been there.... 6am will ALWAYS be a horrible time to get up! Yet if i go to bed at 8am i can be up at 2pm fully refreshed and with 8 hours before i have to think about work. -PK- DragonofAna 08-11-2005, 08:56 This past year I average about 4 to 5 hours a night when I am lucky. So much to do. So little time to do it in. Lately had the cold. I love having the cold. I get to sleep between 7 and 10 hours - though usually with a wake up in the middle for a cuppa. If I sleep more than 8 hours I have a lovely headache throughout the rest of the day. If I do not get a couple of hours I tend to be really ratty. I only enjoy sleeping whilst I am dreaming anyhow so my body clock tends to wake me frequently so I can go back to sleep and have another dream or two. Dragon |
