My parents are coming over in the next few weeks to take me out for a meal to cheer me up because im stuck in Sheffield doing my dissertation when i should be at home having fun with my friends!!!

I don't have a clue where to go. I'm looking for somewhere with parking, not necessarily in the city centre, in fact out in the country would be good if it's a nice day. I'm not bothered if it's a pub, as long as they do good food. Not bothered about cost either-parents are paying!!!!

Has anyone got any suggestions?????

Yes! Got to Jabu Fondue on London Road. Its amazing! You cook your own food in two big vats of soup - I know that sounds crap - u got to a restaurant and cook your own food - but its so much fun and much more of a laugh than a serious sit-down meal. Perfect for dissertation stress if you ask me (and boy, have I been there!).

There's loads of cool food and its really cheap.

In case you needed any more convincing, its bring your own wine, and they get mad if you tip them because hey - you cooked it yourself!

Don't have the number handy but there's a review for it on the BBC food Greedy Cow section.

Hope this helps, and hope you're de-stressed soon; its all worth it when you finally hand it in :D

Recently I like Rowshas at Walkley which is a Lebanese resataurant and Eskitum (or something like that...?) in Attercliffe which is a huge Indian/Chinese/Thai buffet place with a big car park. Jabu's also fun and I think it's BYO which always makes things cheaper:thumbsup:

Depends what kind of food you're after though. Any preference with regard to nationality?

Black-a-Moor between Coal Aston and Marsh Lane.
It's not part of a big chain.
There's the usual range of steaks but what I like is the freshly cooked unusual dishes.
Four of us went out last night and is cost £59 for a starter and main course including 2 drinks each.
I just don't know why it isn't busy every night.
The worst part is the slow service even through there are few people in the dining room.
But, it's well worth it if you are out for an evening where you will have time for a good chin wag and want to enjoy the lovely food.
The food is great and there is a panoramic view of the moss valley from the dining room.
I've had one duff meal there and that was the smoked salmon and tagliatelli. Its was very bland. I suppose smoked salmon is a delicate flavour.
If the beef and goats cheese stack is on the menu try it.

Cool, thanks for your suggestions so far, as regards to nationality of food, i don't really care, but i'm not a big fan of spicey food, so i guess indians are out!!!!

George at Hathersage, belongs to Best Western, don't let that put you off food to die for, resident chef wins awards every year for his culinary expertise. Don't usually have to book this little gem is not widely known about, not cheap though but worth every penny. Good Luck with disso, graduated last year worth all the hard work.

If you're not bothered about cost then the Greenhead House in Chapeltown. Mate of mine took his wife for a 3 course meal and it came to £107. He said it was worth it though and that's the test. If you think you got value for money then it was worth it.

Why don't you say to you parents "actually I would just love a home cooked meal and some quality time with you guys". Then go home and eat dinner with them and then go out with your friends.. if you play it right they may even drive you back to Sheffield so you can carry on with your dissertation

If you commend freshly cooked food, its obvious you will have to wait, If you have a hundred and one meals on the menu and served in a flash its not freshly cooked! Arthur.

Whats happened to the Black-a-Moor on Snowden Lane, closed down and the windows boarded up? How long is going to be before the Gypsy's are on there when the car boot season starts up again? The Butchers around the corner in Marsh Lane seems to have closed down as well!
