My teeth have always kind of bled when I brushed them but recently everytime I brush them, even with a soft toothbrush they bleed alot.
It's not painful but it does make alot of blood. the area's that bleed are the gums in the cracks of the teeth. Sometimes just rubbing my teeth or eating can make certain area's bleed.
any idea what i can do about this as it means i'm brushing my teeth less and less due to the blood involved. I know I should contact my dentist but he doesn't live in sheffield and i'm not sure this is 999-ULTRA-EMERGANCY.
someone must have some experience,
thanks.

Sometimes when I bite into a banana my gum bleeds
Dentists always say my gums are OK, I would not worry. Get an appintment with the hygenist and they can give you a onceover.
You could try using Sensodyne toothpaste, but I would see a dentist to make sure all is well.

my dentist told me that if your teeth bleed, you should clean your teeth more often and clean the gums too, because it often is a sign of gum disease. I'd get yourself either to the dentist or to the hygenist before you get tooth decay. good luck

There is information and helpful advice on this dental site:
http://www.dentistry.uiowa.edu/public/oral/perio%20brochure.html
Extract from it:
Bleeding Gums Are Not Normal!
In the early stage of gum disease, called gingivitis, the gums become red, swell, and bleed easily. The disease is still reversible at this stage, and can usually be eliminated by careful daily brushing and flossing. In the more advanced stages of gum disease, called periodontitis, the gums and bone that support the teeth become seriously damaged. If the disease is left untreated, it can eventually lead to loss of teeth.
What are the signs of gum disease?
Any of the following conditions may indicate the presence of gum disease, and a dentist or dental specialist called a periodontist should be consulted. If the gums:
· bleed when brushing teeth
· are red, swollen or tender
have pulled away from the teeth
Or if one of the following conditions is present:
bad breath that doesn't go away
pus between teeth and gums
loose teeth
a change in the way the teeth fit together when biting
a change in the fit of partial dentures
Remember that pain usually is not present in the early stages of gum disease.
You need to strengthen your gums by brushing them like vjpearson has said and you can so easily get gum disease
Try getting some 'corsodyl' gel. I've been advised to use it as I have some inflamed gums for some weird reason at the moment. You just gently brush your gums / teeth with it. You can get it at most pharmacy's / dentists.
sounds a little like gingervitus holes below the gum line ,dont fool around go see a dentist ,and no more kissing ,thats how I got mine.
