Our original location has now fallen through so we need somewhere else to get married...

We have a humanist minister conducting the ceremony so can exchange vows wherever we want.

Can anyone recommend a beautiful spot in the peak district? My only concern is the weather but assuming that it will be sunny (its in August) we have considered hiring out an ice cream van and having champagne before coming back into Sheffield for a meal.

Please help...am running out of time!:help:

Botanical Gardens do lovely weddings in the glass houses, not in the Peak District though. Good luck finding somewhere and Congratulations

Wow - great place to get hitched. Never realised they catered for such events.

I already looked into Botanical gardens but i think that you have to pay quite a lot of money for the privelege of using the land and buildings.

What about on the crags overlooking Hathersage? You get a beautiful view in summer and there is already an ice-cream van nearby in the car park over the hill!

There is also the top of Whinnets Pass if you really like good views!

Congratulations and hope you have many happy years together!

My fiance is into climbing so we had already thought about the crags...its definitely something that i will try to look into. Is there an ice cream van or is it a parlour?

Sorry, just re-read your post about there being a van rather than a parlour. Would like one that we could hire ourselves and stock some chilled champagne as well - anyone got any ideas if this would be possible?

A couple I know who are into climbing hired this place last year. They had outside caterers and we danced until five in the morning and then used the youth hostel or camping for sleeping. It was lovely, made it feel like a full weekend and was completely them rather than a country hotel. You can deck the hall out to your own tastes as well. :)

Wicks car park @ the foot of the moor. Prime location but be carfull there is a 6 month waiting list for this little gem. So go get it sorted because you wouldn't want to miss out.

Was also going to suggest Maynard Arms (beth29 linked it above...)

My brother got married there last August. The place is beautiful and the view from the gardens is amazing!

Chatsworth? You would have great photos!

We had a humanist ceremony in the grounds of Chatsworth. As you go into the village of Edensor, there's a hall on the left hand side (going towards Chatsworth House) next to a golf course. It belongs to the estate but you can hire it cheaply and it's very grand - great for photos - there's a kitchen so you can put drinks out and stuff. We had a guest in a wheelchair so it was perfect - in the peaks but accessible.

We had a ceremony there a few years ago and I've been to a few other humanist and pagan weddings there.

If you need more details PM me!

Are you looking for just a spot, or a building, or...?

I was gonna suggest Chatsworth House as well. If not Chatsworth, then any other similar English Heritage buildings within the Peak District area ?

If not that, then what about The Roaches ? I know there's like a bothy kind of place at one end of it. (Or is it a climbing hut?) I'm not sure how you get permission to go about using it though. It is a breath-taking place, and I'm sure you can get some really nice pictures when at the top, esp when the sun goes down to the West. Cos the building will get all the sunlight from the West, just as it sets.
Remember that episode of Friends whereby Ross gets married to Emily in this ruin-esque loooking place. Now imagine that, but at the Roaches.. ;)

People use that area for a bit of climbing too.

Wedding is all sorted now - we are inviting everyone to the registry office then having a drinks reception at Haha, and therefore making the most of the Peace Gardens, then all back to our house for a bbq.

Thanks for your suggestions though - might go and check some of them out anyway cos they sound wonderful to go and visit.
