A few years ago I went to a Craft Fair at Sheffield Arena and bought a kit for making miniature dolls. They were knitted on hat pins and were very fiddly but looked fantastic when they were done. I still have the dolls but have lost the patterns. Does anyone know where I can get them again?

Thanks
Jo

I haven't been able to track down exactly what you're referring to. Most of the links I could find about miniature knitting were more to do with tiny clothes and the like (which were very impressive, by the way). I've included some of these links below.

You might find this link to the Yahoo Mini Knitting and Crochet Group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/MiniKnittingandCrochet/) helpful. There might be someone on there who could help you track down the patterns. I must admit to not knowing a great deal about the subject myself.

Anyway, here are the links I thought might be useful for you:
Buttercup Miniatures (http://www.buttercupminiatures.co.uk/)
Sue Osborne (http://www.sueosborne.co.uk/index.html)
Little Trimmings (http://www.littletrimmings.com/KnittingMenu.asp)
Bits to Buy (http://www.bitstobuy.co.uk/)

Could you let me know if you find the patterns you were looking for? I'd really like to see the finished dolls.

Thanks for trying anyway. I'll see if I can sort out a pic of the dolls I did before. I've been trying now for a couple of years to get the patterns. I have tried Buttercup, but not the others. I'll let you know if I find them.

I found them!! Just got my newsletter from Buttercup and found them on the following site: -

Carol Argent of Dollysminis ( http://www.miniknits.com )

There's a pic of the completed dolls too, they are only about an inch in height when completed, and are really fiddly to do, but look great.

They are under PLAYTIME on the following page -

Those are amazing! I really like them, but I doubt I'd have the dexterity to make them. I don't think my eyesight would be good enough either.

That site is brilliant though. I really love Maria's Wedding (http://www.miniknits.com/LR61.htm). Such intricate work. It's really beautiful, particularly the flowers in her hair and the veil.

And have you seen these (http://www.miniknits.com/patterns.htm) mittens? Good grief! I have enough trouble knitting the full-size versions. I love the little mice :) .

Wow, I'd thought i'd seen most things over the years but they are incredible! I think that the dolls and the mini animals will have to go on my wish list - which is forever getting longer. . .

Can you put some pictures on when you've done some?

I definitely will put pics on. I actually have the original ones I made a few years ago before I lost the pattern. I knitted them on hat pins! I'll get a pic taken of them.

I'd love to see them too. I'm really quite taken with some of the patterns on that site. Such skill. The wedding flowers are absolutely stunning.

Did you have to use a magnifyer? I have an anglepoise lamp with a daylight bulb and a magnifying lens built into the shade. I haven't had to used that bit of it yet, but I think it would be essential for those patterns.

Do you use embroidery thread? I noticed that some of the recommended yarns are DMC. If so, you've got a fantastic selection of colours to choose from. The new DMC linen threads are particularly lovely, and would be perfect for some of those patterns, particularly those in the 'period' section.

Don't know if you are still chasing miniature knitted dolls. Do know these are not the ones you were looking for before. I make miniature dolls as small as 0.5 inch and up to 1and 3/8 inches. If you are interested in seeing them please have a look art my website (landonhouseminis.com).
