Well... I'm not complaining.. just so long as we don't see a drop in latency I'll be a happy bunny...

I would recommend that people resist using the services of Telewest/Blueyonder (the former Yorkshire Cable) for as long as possible.

They have the annoying habit of reducing their charges to new customers, particularly their installation charges, when the initial demand is over.

They will offer you ''a 50% reduction in installation costs'' for a limited period - after the limited period it will probably cost you nothing.

So damn annoying !

And don't forget - They have you captured for a minimum of 12 months.

And don't forget - They make a 'connection charge' on EVERY phone call.

. . . People Power is knowledge. :D

Personally haven't got a problem with BY - been using 'em for a few years and apart from a few teething problems they've become extremely reliable and now we get 50% increase in speed for free - good on 'em I say :D

I know where you're coming from with the offers though but to be honest most companies do that and it doesn't feel right that new customers get stuff cheaper does it...

I have 2 machines running on a wireless router from my wired Blueyonder broadband and 1 on a wired connection. Why do you ask?

Something along the lines of - http://www.consume.net/nodedb.php?pos_x=435011&pos_y=387954&action=recenter&old_scale=25&scale=20&old_size=480&size=480&Submit=Go%21

Isn't that a whole other topic/thread...

Just a thought as it's highly unlikely that a BY customer will need or consider something like that.. it's usually people who are out in the sticks or on the very limits of service who think along those lines..

Been there, thought about, gave up when I realised what a massive headache it would be..

Telewest will crank up the speed of its broadband internet services from next month, but prices will stay the same.

The cable company will permanently increase the speed of its broadband internet connections by 50 per cent for the same price as existing services.

Its blueyonder 512Kbps service will increase in speed to 750Kbps but stay at £25 per month, the 1Mbps service is boosted to 1.5Mbps for the current price of £35 per month, while its 2Mbps service will increase to 3Mbps for £50 a month.

Good news!!

Is that for the new 256k broadband? Thats what I have and I only pay £18 per month for it.

If this is correct I will be returning to 512k for no extra money.....cool

Unfortunatly you wont...512k users will be upped to 750k, 1m will go up to 1.5m, and those with 2m connections will be going up to 3m. The £18 a month 256k service will be staying at 256k. If you want the extra speed youll have to pay for it.

I'd be happier if they kept my downstream at 1mbps and increased my upload bandwidth a little
