I need to get rid of some carpet beetles, obviously I will need some insecticide (or beetlecide). Any idea where I can get this somewhat elusive product?

Any idea where I can get this somewhat elusive product? Ginger_Kitty 10-04-2006, 08:35 I had this problem last year, nasty little ******* they are! I don't think you can buy anything to kill them, its best to get the council in, It cost £40 for me last year, they spray all your house floors and anywhere else you think is affected. Its worth checking all your wool clothes for them and get them drycleaned or wash them on the hottest wash that you can. even after being treated last year i'm still finding the odd one so keep an eye out for a while afterwards too :( Ooo i forgot, if you have the actual beetles, they live on houseplants so check them out too, the larvae (wooly bears) live on wool/animal hair mainly. Strix 10-04-2006, 12:23 You started a thread, didn't you, Em? Is it still available for a merge? ;) Ginger_Kitty 10-04-2006, 12:48 err.. i'll have a look when i next get a chance.... EDIT: can't find it :( i think its gone :( anyone else? Strix 10-04-2006, 13:12 Yeah, I looked, but only found the Dead Fox thread by Viking. Not much help at all. Your thread was pretty coprehensive though Em. Google didn't find it either, which is a bit odd. Google normally has our threads cached :suspect: Ginger_Kitty 10-04-2006, 13:14 maybe it got well and truly wiped when the forum got its revamp, ah well :( Strix 10-04-2006, 13:46 Oh well :( This may help: http://www.pestcontroldirect.co.uk/acatalog/Pest_Control_Direct_Carpet_Beetle_20.html Rachylou 10-04-2006, 14:09 we had a problem with these in our last house, they were flying beetles that came down the chimney as we had an open fire place. I suffered these for a few years they only emerged in the spring and summer. In the end all we had to do was have a top (sorry dont know the correct name) put on the top of our chimney and they were gone never saw them again. Something so simple but just didn't think of it at the time. |
