Now don't jump to conclusions! but I was just wondering where is a nice place you could take your girlfriend/ (EX) on a nice drive in the Sheffield/Derbyshire area

I like to go somewhere that is quite where we can park the car & have a nice walk.

Someone has suggested Bradfield?

IMO there is NOWHERE better than Bretton Park, just north of Barnsley.

Go up the M1 and go to the main car park (not the first one) at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Pick a nice evening, take a picnic and a bottle of wine and set amongst the the sculpture in the lovely Capability Brown landscape with the old house and orangery behind you

Ahhhhh... heaven :)

Monsal Head in Derbyshire is pretty good - spectacular views and footpaths to follow, you can pretty much choose your own distance. If you are feeling energetic you can do a 10-11 mile by starting and finishing at Bakewell.

Lathkill Dale is also lovely, walking alongside the river, especially at this time of year.

Went to Chatsworth not long ago, and walked from there to Bakewell. Was quite nice - especially in the evening.

Why not take a drive up Derwent Valley. With all the rain we had yesterday (27th April) the water is incredibly close to cascading over Derwent Wall. That's a sight worth seeing!

Park up in Fairholmes car-park and have a walk in some of the most beautiful and peaceful scenery in England. Hire a bike if you want to!

I definitely recommend it - I was only there yesterday. And when you're tired from walking, there's always the Ladybower Inn for a good lunch!

I can think of a romantic walk you can easily do with your girl, start at the bottom of the stairs in your house, walk up said stairs, walk round till you find the bedroom... What you do when you get there is purely up to you ;)

Linacre Reservoir, Langsett Reservoir, Mam Tor, Fox House, Blacka Moor among others - basically get in the car, drive out into the Peak and just look about - you'll always find somewhere decent :)

Thanks for the tip, while not really looking for a romantic drive, I was bored yesterday so we looked up this thread and took up your advice (I had seen the sign on the M1 lots of times, but never pulled in!). I, like Tony, highly recommend this place to those of you who haven't been. For the time being I've put up some photos I took at:
