After the performance I had in getting the PSP for xmas just gone (see my previous PSP threads for the whole story) I am now getting fed up with it.

I have recently found out that UMD movies are on the way out with a few of the major film companies pulling out of supporting UMD which is not a major problem for me but it is a big worry none the less.

Also- the fact that STILL... after a couple of months, I cannot backup my legally owned games onto the PSP memory sticks or a Datel PSP HD because its 2.01 firmware... so I still have to carry around the games I want to play on the move.

On top of all this- Sony is getting ready to spit out the PSP 2 in a few years time- so my brand new toy is going to be obsolete.

Anyone else getting tired of their PSPs?

You can convert a DVD to PSP movie format which I think is much better than buying UMD's to be honest... and the quality is just as good so the PSP is worth it in that sense.

However- its still the old gaming side of it that is annoying me to high heaven at the moment.

It didn't take much foresight to see that UMD was never going to be a big hit, to be honest. They are also never going to make it easy to play backed up games, for obvious reasons.

I don't see why bringing the next generation in "a few years" is such a great problem though - would you prefer that they were still just selling original Playstations today? :)

I'm not annoyed with my PSP at all. The UMD movies going under is a shame, but what do you expect - the companies were charging the same as a DVD for a lower resolution, and limited extras.

As for copying games to memory card to play on the move, again I have no problem with it, seeing as the UMD discs are small enough, and the wallet I got for a few quid will happily fit in a pocket.

Then the announcement of PSP2 in a few years....advance in technology dictate that the PSP will look dated ina few years anyway. That doesn't mean that it will be wiped out once the PSP2 comes out. Nintendo DS is all the rage, yet I can still pick up a Gameboy Advance if I want to.

If worry of a new version of a system coming out upsets you, a simple solution would be to never buy a gaming platform ever again.

My PSP gets used every day, either for video watching (ie catching up on TV shows), music listening, or gaming. Can't see me getting fed up with it for a long time yet.
