Please vote from the 6 choices above. When voting this is based initial thoughts on meeting a female and making that decision within the first 20 minutes of whether to pursue or you are interested in that female.

You've got to put it into context. I wouldn't walk across a crowded bar to talk to someone who was ugly but had a nice personality, and i wouldn't settle down and have children with someone who looked nice but had nothing in their heads. Its all very relative anyway, but its very hard to vote.

I would have said 50/50 too, but I had to opt for the looks side. I wouldn't go out with anyone who I don't find visibly attractive, but I also wouldn't go out with anyone whos personality I don't like.

Another interesting question which is loosely connected to this, is what sort of personality are people attracted to in relation to their own? I personally think that opposites attract, because I'm a fairly shy and quiet person, but I always seem to get a crush on girls who are fairly loud and brash.

I would say 50/50 and the same as Sidla.

But in a dream world, someone who is both 100% attractive *and* 100% intelligent :lol:

80/20 looks - but i'm pretty shallow

having said that though of course you'd want a woman as beautiful in personality as she is in looks, ideally.

I don't know if you can really break it down like that.
I suppose I have a basic threshold of attractiveness below which I wouldn't go out with someone (i'm in a stable relationship anyway, so the point is moot).
So if they were above my threshhold attractiveness filter and seemed like a nice person then i'd go out with them. it's not like I apply a weighting to the two factors though, they have to be both there, neither one will tip it on it's own.

Kindness, and a loving and generous spirit ... looks and physical attraction are important too (to me) ... she could look like miss world ... but unless she had a kind and loving nature ... she would be a non starter.

Having said all that ... I have to admit it ... I put 80%-20%.

which is logical

it would be clearer if the poll represented 100 points and you assign a certain number to the two attributes - that would be easier than assigning a % as then it gives a better indication as to what's more important because like i said above - ideally, everyone would want someone with looks and personality in equal measure i.e 100% each (or 50/50 then) whereas with points you would need to apply a weighting
