Just got home from work to find that Telewest have been and installed our TVDrive - had a quick play and it seems spot on. Been through and set recordings on everything :) Also got them to stick the old box in the bedroom - yay.

Anyone else got it yet?

What are the recording options like? Can you attach other devices to it?

they've been offering it recently to customers - I nearly decided to get one then changed my mind until I'd seen how it got on. Teleport's not been a great success - very limited options despite ads to the contrary

How much does TVDrive cost?

There is no up-front equipment fee for TVDrive. £10 a month if you subscribe to our Supreme pack or £15 a month if you subscribe to either our Starter or Essential packs.

As above it's £10/month so it's not bad really. Personally I've found Teleport to be a success. It was free and I've watched quite a lot off it and there's still stuff I want to watch.

we just got Sky+ today.. xD - for the win.... although one thing I do like about Telewest cable, is where you can review previous programs (up to the past 2 weeks??)

I think it's crap.

Not bothered with it since it came online last year.

There'e only repeats (of repeats, of repeats of original BBC/ITV shows) for the most part.

The youngest likes it for Spongebob though.

ours was installed this afternoon, just trying out the live pause and scheduling it to record the programs we watch.

Want I want to find out is what access is available through the ethernet connection, can I transfer recorded programs to my pc for archiving.

We're considering ordering TVdrive and wondered if more people had experience of it? Pros, cons etc...

Cheers

Hi.
we have tv drive and find it a lot better than sky, as we can record one programe on tv drive, and tape another and watch a different programe. where as sky you have to watch what you are taping.

you have 3 tuners on the tvDrive compared to 2 on sky+, and the tvDrive is HD ready.
Since my first one died and was replaced (eventually) we've had no problems, the latest firmware seems to be pretty stable.
Only problem at the moment is that there's nothing worth recording on over the summer.

More importantly...

Did you find out any info RE the ethernet connection?

Can you connect it to the PC & transfer from tvD to local HD? Or...

Can you plug a HD into it then swap them when full?

I asked the engineer who installed the replacement, the ethernet socket isn't connected to anything.
The best you can do is use the record function, stream it to a dvd in mpeg2 and then rip that back onto the pc, not exactly a technique for copying a lot of stuff.

I was looking at the TV Drive on Telewest web site the other day, and it does look better spec than Sky +, I like how it can do 3 things at once, tape 2 programs and watch a third, Sky + can only tape 1 and watch t'other.

Cheers for that. I won't bother with it then;).
