View Full Version : Most memorable sporting event you've attended
ReginaldD 07-04-2006, 14:00 Mine would have to be the play off final from last year between wednesday and hartlepool. As i'm only 18 it was the first time i'd seen wednesday do really well, I felt even better as i've seen all the bad times recently and it made it all worth it.
In second would have to be when I went to watch man utd, my auntie is a member and managed to get tickets for the champions league game against fenerbache. It was Wayne Rooney's debut and he was amazing, he got a hat trick and they were superb goals. He was even better than when watching him on tv as you get to seen all the runs he makes the cameras don't show.
shirty30 07-04-2006, 14:09 Last year when I was in Canada I went to a Canadian Football Match (same as American Football - not really football more like rugby with shoulder pads lol). I wasn't really bothered about the match (more interested in english footie), but it was good entertainment all the same.
Wednesday beating Manchester United at Wembley! Was there with my brother, superb day, fantastic atmosphere and great result!
RobsNo1Fan 07-04-2006, 14:17 Wednesday V Hartlepool in Cardiff last year   Was in a Vip box with work. Fantastic xx
Guderian 07-04-2006, 14:56 Bayern Munich vs Man United, Nou Camp Barcelona, May 1999.
Say no more.
Also another memorable occassion was taking my Uncle, a mad Liverpool fan, to Dortmund to see Liverpool win the UEFA cup. 5-4 what a match
Agent Gypo 07-04-2006, 15:59 Playoff semi final second leg, Blades v Forest.
Best game I've ever been to.
Denmark v Croatia @ Hillsborough - Euro '96
sharpend 09-04-2006, 09:06 Sheffield Eagles 17 Wigan 8
Rugby League Challenge Cup final 1998 - Wembley
Wigan at that time had internationals from Australia & New Zealand
Eagles had players from Barnsley & Wakefield..
One of the wigan players had had a special box made for his "winners" medal to be sent home to family in NZ.
Despite the scoreline the Eagles really strangled the life out of Wigan
A brilliant day
I'll never forget the 1966 World Cup - went to two games at Hillsborough - Spain v Switzeland group game and West Germany v Uruguay quarter final.
Wednesday beating Man Utd (then European Champions) 5-4 in 1968 and Yorkshire beating the Australian tourists at the Lane (same year) are definately the most memorable.
AC Milan vs Liverpool, Attaturk Stadium Istanbul (just!), May 2005.
Prior to that it would have been the Uefa Cup Final in Dortmund.
I'm a lucky boy!!
:D
I was in New York a few years ago when Lennox Lewis was fighting for the
" WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE WORLD" at Madison Square garden.
We didnt have any tickets, but were able to purchase some, once inside the atmosphere was fantastic, all the big American Celebs were there as was all the Razamataz that followed them .
We got to our seats and the first fight began, all of a sudden the chant of YOOOOOOOOORKSIRE YOOOOOOOOOORSHIRE could be heard , it was Paul Ingles fans who had travelled to watch him, all that way to Madison Sq garden and im singing Yorkshire !!!!!!
Ingle won , lewis became Heavyweight Champion of the world, and we had a fantastic weekend.
Cardiff last year to watch the Blue And White Wizzzzzzzzzzzaaaaards, i dont know which was better, again we had a weekend in Cardiff which was fantastic, so im spoilt,
Got to be Wednesday xx :D
Got to be the last FA cup final at Wembley. Chelsea vs Aston Villa. The atmosphere was so emotional - thinking back over all the times I had walked down Wembley Way and through the twin towers, looking around and imagining it being demolished!
johnbradley 10-04-2006, 10:45 its got to be the Birmingham Super Prix, july 1989...
f3000 cars racing thru the streets, won by a little known young french guy, Jean Alesi:)
Jimbob1989 10-04-2006, 10:59 When I was running at sports day and although I only came second, it was really close and I was really proud, because I did it when I with an enlarged liver and for those of you that don't know :P it hurts, a lot :hihi:
benclements2 10-04-2006, 11:03 Playoff semi final second leg, Blades v Forest.
Best game I've ever been to.
I'm torn between this game and the 2-1 win over Leeds in the same season when Jags hit that goal from what seemed to be 1 million trillion squillion yards away. A repeat goal like that a week on tuesday would go down well!
James7x7 10-04-2006, 11:20 1st day of the second test against Australia at Edgbaston when England scored 407 runs. That said, I'd have probably swapped that day to have been there on the Sunday morning when we won by 2 runs.
Till Man 10-04-2006, 11:25 BOXING DAY
Leicester 2 Blades 5 to get promotion on the same day that Wendy lost at home (Manchester City ) to be relegated - that day was the stuff that dreams are made of
NEKRO138 10-04-2006, 12:54 Wednesday 2 Blades 1 in the semi final at wembley in 1993. Waddles free kick. Alan Cork's beard. Classic.
Clockedit 10-04-2006, 14:02 FA cup final Arsenal 2-1 Owls 1993. The look on wendy fans face when the gooners did the double over them in cup finals. Classic.
Leicester 2 Blades 5 to get promotion on the same day that Wendy lost at home (Manchester City ) to be relegated - that day was the stuff that dreams are made of
