buy an all day saver tram ticket and do all the bars/pubs on the routes-
my boyfriend and his friends did this one year for someones birthday - it ended up very messy !
I suppose it depends if you are starting at the station and what sort of pubs you like.
If it were me from the station I'd probably go to the Rutland Arms, then the Red Lion (possibly via the Lord Nelson), then the Roebuck. After that whatever pubs take your fancy in town in whatever direction you are heading
As the others have said, depends on what sort of pubs you are after. If you are wanting livelier towny bars the best bet would be to head up to West Street and Division Street.
If you like the more traditional real ale pubs then there is a lot of choice:
Staying in City Centre:
Across road to the Old Queens Head, behind bus station. From there cross over Flat Street, under subway and past Crucible to the Graduate or the Old Monk. Then round to Orchard Square for the Museum. Then head up past the City Hall onto Division Street for the Frog & Parrot. Walk further up Division Street and turn left for Devonshire Cat, then up through West One to the other side and the Bath Hotel. Cross over West Street and onto Pitt Street for the Red Deer. Drop down onto Trippet Lane for the Dog & Partridge. You can then return to the railway station, possibly stopping at the Bankers Draft, Wig & Pen, Red Lion or Rutland Arms on the way.
Another option is the pubs in the Upper Don Valley, accessible by tram: Get tram to Shalesmoor where you are well placed for the Cask & Cutler, Ship Inn, Kelham Island Tavern and Fat Cat. Infirmary Road stop is within walking distance of the Gardeners Rest, Langsett Road stop is by the Hillsborough Hotel and Bamforth Street near the New Barrack Tavern.
Or do a 53 bus crawl, which takes in the Kelham Island Tavern, Fat Cat, Gardeners Rest and New Barrack Tavern in one direction, and in the other the Sheaf View, White Lion and Woodseats Palace.
You can find a few more ideas like these amongst the articles at http://www.sheffieldcamra.co.uk/features.htm
Some quality suggestions there Andy.
Done them many a time! :)
