If you were there you'll understand. This guy's a legend, and a pretty mean banjo picker - I've never heard someone play that loud and clear without fingerpicks. His style ain't bluegrass, though... more a mish-mash of the old-time frailing, three-finger pickin and some angry strumming thrown in. Harks back to the old banjo pickers from the '30s and '40s like Stringbean and Grandpa - musicianship, songwriting and slap-stick comedy all in one. Dude looks like Bruce Campbells skinny brother - 'who's laughing now?'

Look it up on Wikipedia - Formby played the ukelele... although a modified uke, which had a tiny banjo 'head' thus altering the sound slightly. The true banjo is the 5-string, like in Deliverance (which my sig is from) or O Brother, Where Art Thou. It amazes me how little people know about traditional instruments - it's just guitar, bass and drums now, right? If you go to Scotland or Ireland they know what you're talking about, but here in England it's always 'George bloody Formby'.
